Blue1 to replace fleet with 717's [in 2010] [and phase out in 2015-16]

Blue1 will replace it's MD-90 and Avro fleet with Boeing 717s. First ones coming already in autumn.
New livery will be applied to each a/c with individual paintings, designed by students from the Aalto-university in Helsinki.
Looks quite nice: http://www.blue1.com/fi/fi/Blue1/Leh...seen-Blue1lla/

Nice indeed. 717 are nice planes, but they stop the production a little while ago (2006 If I recall correctly), wonder where Blue1 will get its planes from?

4 or 5 of them are former AeBal/Quantum which are now in SAS' possesion. The rest I don't know

Quantum had 5, Spanair has 4. Maybe KF will get those...

I was about to say "Good riddance MD90's!" when I read the press release more carefully. They say they'll double their fleet with the B717s, so the MD90's and Avros seem here to stay...

NB - the B717 is actually MD95, a "direct offshoot of MD90"

Blue1:n tavoitteena on Boeing 717 -konetyypin myötä parin vuoden sisällä kaksinkertaistaa lentolaivueensa koko ja siirtyä yhden konetyypin laivueeseen.
In their press release they say that their aim is to double their fleet within two years time and to have a single aircraft type fleet.

I read somewhere that the Avro's leasing agreement is reaching its end so 717's will definitely replace them.

And good riddance, two of the Avro's KF got has a broken water boiler so they cannot serve coffee on those planes. When the FA asked the Service Dep. why they don't just fix it, they just answer "it cannot be fixed, we don't have replacement parts for that because they don't exist"

AFAIK the Avro's leasing contracts aspires in 2011 and 2012.

Reasonably nice livery, but surely they could come up with a nicer translation than "Little-drip"?

And as for the rest of the press release, corporate bafflegab is bad enough in English, but translating it word for word into Finnish makes it even worse:
Blue1:n uusissa kaupallisissa ratkaisuissa arvon tuottaminen asiakkaille perustuu vahvoihin, kannattaviin kumppanuuksiin, uusiin yhteistyömalleihin ja palveluinnovaatioihin.

OT - KF's first 717 on track.

Received some info from a friend at KF.

Apparently the first to be delivered is OH-BLM, and should arrive at its home base around July 12th. It is currently beeing painted to its new colours.

Others are still undergoing heavy maintenance in Miami.

Looking forward to see what they are like inside...

Hi!

With the first 717 now deliverd (OH-BLM on August 3rd), does anyone know when they will put it into service? I have heard some rumors that it would fly to Brussels and Copenhagen on Sunday the 15th but the flights are showing MD90 and 737 in sas booking engine...
