Tips for still getting an upgrade? At checkin? At gate? Or are we talking about the same seats?

I guess I should have asked if all Business seata were full...

I'd appreciate some advice!

PS. Maybe someone with access can see availability on SK945 Oct 4 and SK 946 Oct 8?
What the lady meant is that there is no award seats available for upgrading using points. But you always have the possibility for an stand-by gate upgrade for points if there is any available seats in business class. Option Town has nothing what so ever to do whit this. If there is any available seats in business one always have the possibility for getting the option town upgrade

OK thanks!

Just to be clear: Which is my best option for getting upgraded? Go for Optiontown or wait until gate? Are they the same seats?I already have the points, so is it worth it spending the money for Optiontown?

(I really want the upgrade...)

They're not exclusive. If you really want the upgrade, apply for Optiontown and see if the upgrade clears. If it does, you get confirmation at least 4 hrs before departure. If it hasn't, you can still try do score an upgrade at the gate, and then paying with your points.

Both your flights show 9+ seats in all business booking classes (C,D,J,Z).

Well, only you can tell how much money "really want" corresponds to for you...

I just received a new ticket from SK for an upcoming TATL. The new ticket states Z class. I can go on to flysas.com select a seat up front but the fare still says Economy Restricted.

Also not a single word from Optiontown.

Going on to check my trip my fare is: business.

Should I take action in any way to ensure that the upgrade has cleared or to make sure that the right points will be posted and so on?

BTW, for a tall person which seat do you reco on an SK 333 in C? I was thinking about trying one in the front row so my feet won't be knocking around in that little box you get otherwise when you lever the seat for sleeping.

Cheers!

Im 188cm tall, dont know how tall your are, but I always prefer row 1 on the A333 to avoid the box situation. It is also my experience that the seats in row 1 tend to recline further than the rest of the seats, resulting in a more horizontal seat position for sleeping.

I'm actually exactly the same

That's kool. I'll stick with row 1. I've always avoided that because of the galley and the bassinet but now I think I'll give it a try. I've noticed that they are usually pretty good at turning off the lights in the front galley.

OK so when calling Optiontown they still say my ticket has not been upgraded. How is this possible?

Two days after SK issues a new ticket and they are still clueless...

Also I think the last time I was upgraded my "ticket type" changed to the new class. In that case I even think it turned out to be C.

Im not sure in this, but im sure that all my optiontown upgrades have stated Z Business restricted on my new ticket, not the old booking class. I would call the SAS hotline and ask them what class your ticket is, and if Business, tell them the problem and ask them to email you a new ticket so there wont be any problems at check-in at the airport. If the person you speak with has no clue of optiontown, then ask to speak to a supervisor.

If you are 188cm, you are not tall. I'm 2m and I don't really consider myself that tall. Regardless, I find that pretty much any SK C seat is fine for me when it comes to sleeping. I've never tried to get the SK seats flat, but from other flat bed experiences, I assume that would be worse for me.

The thing is, when seats don't go fully flat, they actually provide a few more centimeters of space which are crucial to me. With my feet touching the seat infront of me and my head just short of the back of my own seat, I'm not sliding down while sleeping. I have yet to find a C seat with 200cm seat pitch.

What do you guys think about the prospects of using Optiontown on a *A RTW ticket? These days I am 99% sure that they are electronic but I am not sure which carrier they issue on since the easiest method appears to be to build it on the *A website. I guess it would be either United, Lufthansa or ANA if it is first carrier on the ticket.

Anyway, the ticket number will not be SAS but I will hopefully obtain an SAS PNR and it will ticket with an SAS flight number. What does Optiontown need to process the upgrade request?

p.s. I asked Optiontown and they require a 5 digit SAS PNR. On my last ticket (in business) I had the damndest time getting the SAS 5 digit PNR and didn't get until I went to the ticket office in CPH (I happened to be staying at the Hilton across the street). I had an Amadeus PNR from LH, which I could use to look at the booking on both SAS and LH websites.

It doesn't have to be a SAS ticket number (117-). Used Widerĝe (701-) on my optiontwon upgrade OSL-EWR-OSL this summer, an no problem with the actual upgrade

....to get the corrects amount of Eurobonus points afterwards is another story

Me and gf have opted for M to both Y and C on SK973 in end of Oct. Flight is completely zeroed out in M (all buckets) at Flightstats, no M availability at SAS.no either.

Flightstats: C/9 D/9 J/5 Z/0 Y/8 S/6 B/0 all other fares are 0.

Could this be a potential upgrade candiate?
