Might explain why

But are trying out Optiontown again in Octorber on HEL-OSL with Blue1, but booked through SAS this time. So lets see what happens :p

Optiontown and Infants

Hi
We are considering signing up for optiontown for CPH-IAD for a family travel. I was wondering whether this even works with a lap child? We have another child, 3 years old too which will have to pay full price - but what about the lap child? Will it be free, full price, impossible?
I checked the terms and conditions in optiontown, and they say that they _may_ not be able to recognise the lap child as such and hence make you agree on the TOC that they _could_ charge as full passenger for the upgrade price.

Does anybody have any experience on how this is typically handled in practise? Any reply would be highly appreciated - thanks in advance!!

Optiontown RIP-OFF!

My tickets were issued directly by SK, and I did bring a print out of the Optiontown upgrade to SAS checkin in EWR. No avail. Strangely enough, my wife's optiontown UTO went through, --we were traveling together, -- but mine didn't. I finally phoned Optiontown and they explained that for some reason "your tickets got split up", or there were "technical reasons" for the error. He didnt explain why they have not responded for 7 weeks. However, the kind gentleman on the phone promised me a refund immediately. It is now two days. Let's see...... (((frightening that 10 emails get no response, but one phone call apparenlty solves it)))

Just back from my ARN-ORD-LAS trip where I got my optiontown upgrades to C both ways on the TATL leg. Really glad I had the C ticket on the way from ARN, since I picked the time when every swede was leaving on vacation. ARN was a madhouse with long lines even for EBG and F checkin and the fast track access was nice. Can't say the lounge in ARN is worth it, especially being a hike from the F-pier.

UA let me check in at the business counter in Vegas, unfortunately I didn't get priority tags (turned out I didn't need them, bags came off first anyway) or security fast track. I had forgotten about the suck that ORD T5 is, with no fast track or food airside but the lounge was OK.

For 3kkr extra it was worth it to have a seat I could sleep in and not have to deal with lines at ARN.

Higher UTo price with special Apex fare?

I've noticed that whenever my travel agent books my SK tickets (a ticket that states Special Apex Fare) and I try using optiontown, the price for an upgrade is significantly higher, Y is at aroung 270 dollars and C is sometimes at 600.

The fare usually isn't that much more expensive than the one I can book myself on sas.com, so I really don't get it.

Any ideas?

I would also be curious to hear what prices people are paying. I'm currently being quoted £269 pp for one way tickets to tokyo (departing from London via copenhagen). This price about average?

OT: ”All upgrade request on your flight is taken, that why it does not show in your b

I checked the OT homepage last week for the possibility to upgrade ARN-MAN (SK 2549) in early September. Nothing came up.

Called OT and they checked availability and the reason for no-availability was ”All upgrade request on your flight is taken, that why it does not show in your browser”. I asked about at what point this occur but he did not answer.

My question is how many requests can be done until this level is reached? At his point how many M pax has signed up for an upgrade on SK 2549 on my day of travel?

Optiontown upgrades on SAS is only for long-haul flights, so it's natural that nothing comes up. But it's not good that you didn't get correct information over the phone.

Thanks for clarifying that. And yes it would have been nice if the OT agent could have pointed out that in the first place. Wonder why he said what he said?

Can it happen on say ARN-ORD? Can all M pax sign up if they want? Is there a upper maximum per flight?

Maybe I should ask the captain next time to ask over the speaker to have a hand pull to solve the matter; how many signed up and did not get the UG?:D

Definitely, I upgraded ARN-ORD (from economy plus) and ORD-ARN (from economy) last week. ARN-ORD was full in all classes, ORD-ARN was half-full in C. Looked like a lot of upgrades and crew relations in both cases.

He had no idea and made a guess based on experience from other airlines that use OT?

I'm sure everyone would be able to sign up, for two reasons: 1) OT makes money on the sign-up fees, and 2) OT doesn't know how many seats SK in the end will release for OT upgrading.

Email confirmation from Option Town not in synch with SAS system (ORD-ARN)

I tried the option of upgrading both Economy Extra and Business Class for my ORD-ARN flight. Three days before my flight, I did get an email from SAS that indicated my K fare (Econ) had been changed to B (Econ Extra).

Then a few hours later that day OptionTown sent an email to me that I had been successfully upgraded to J Business Class (not B). So I went back to the SAS website for seat selection, but I was still only in Econ Extra. I called SAS and they said I was only upgraded to Econ Extra...not Business class.

So, what I have learned is that the email confirmation for Business class from OptionTown doesn't match or synch with SAS. I will bring my OptionTown email to the SAS checkin to see if they will still upgrade me to Business, otherwise I hope I get my credit back for paying for Business.

I would rather have gotten an email from OptionTown stating that I was cleared for Econ Extra and that my Biz class was still pending. Hmmm.:(

Email confirmation from update to Option Town not in synch with SAS system (ORD-ARN)

I sent another e-mail to OptionTown yesterday; today they responded as well as SAS. SAS reissued my ticket with Z Business class. So emailing OptionTown worked. So now all is in synch.

Upgrades using Optiontown vs. SAS/EB Customer service

Hi!

I have a return flight booked ARN-ORD in Econ Extra, and when I called SAS to use points for upgrade to Business they said the upgrade seats are full.

Does this mean it would be useless to apply for Optiontown upgrades? Or are there more seats that might be available through OT?

Tips for still getting an upgrade? At checkin? At gate? Or are we talking about the same seats?

I guess I should have asked if all Business seata were full...

I'd appreciate some advice!

PS. Maybe someone with access can see availability on SK945 Oct 4 and SK 946 Oct 8?
