For all you guys trying to analyse uto posibility/responsetime and such.
I have a flight ARN-BCN-LPA early on the 15th. Applied to uto about two weeks ago.
Optiontown still shows "upgrade decision pending" on all legs
However, checkmytrip.com shows:
First the original booking with economy confirmed for both legs
Then for the same flights they show once again:
"Waitlisted" for business on the first leg
An "confirmed from waitlist" on the second leg
Strange that one can be both confirmed for business and economy on one and the same flight (second leg).
What do you think of my chanses to get upgraded and if so, on which leg?
Expertflyer shows on the first leg:
C9 D0 J0 Y9 B9 M9 H9 Q9 V9 L9 T9 W9 K0 E0 S0 U0 Z0 O0 P0 G0 A0
And on the second
C9 D2 J1 Y4 B9 M9 H9 Q9 V9 L9 T9 W9 K9 E9 S0 U0 Z0 O0 P0 G0 A0
If I get upgraded it shows that it is possible even if economy is not fully booked/oversold

Sometimes with UTO I've found that Amadeus & the E-tickets are updated before I'm notified from OT. It's possible that your booking class for the 'confirmed business'-leg is already updated. Try a tool that shows booking classes and check! (Checkmytrip for iPhone shows the booking class.)
However, according to expertflyer J is 0 availability on the first leg, C is 9. I wonder if optiontown only upgrades into J on this flight? that case I am probably screwed.
Also, since the economy booking still also shows as confirmed, I wonder I the confirmed business leg will dissapear if the first leg upgrade fails? Pretty meaningless to to be business on just the first leg away - want to bring my golf equipment...

some UTO data ...
First experience using OptionTown. Signed up for an upgrade on flight CPH-PEK from E-Extra to Business. Upgrade confirmed just under three days before the flight. I don't have an account for ExpertFlyer, but on FlightStats the availability on the 12th (I checked just after I received the e-mail from UTO) was:
c3/d3/j3/a0/z0/y0/s0/b0/e9/m9/h9/q0/v0/w0/u0/k0/l0/t0/g9
i.e. E-extra cabin full and a few seats left in business.

My question was about the last one. Lets say I cancel my booking, the logic solution is that there will be no ticket to upgrade, and the fee will be refunded (by OT of course). If the upgrade is ok before the cancellation, the fee will not be refunded.
I assume SAS gets upgrade-wants from OT and are saying yes or no. If SAS get a upgrade question for Mr. X, but Mr. X is not booked any longer, they won´t upgrade Mr. X....

I signed up for this on a flight next Saturday from CPH to IAD, and regret. Don't think the upgrade will be ok because of availabililty in economy. Points-upgrade would be better.
But I am considering to cancel the ticket (refundable for a fee) and buy a new, cheaper ticket with departure Friday instead. ( another Star Alliance airline). Optiontown says upgrade-fee is non-refundable if flight is cancelled. What if the whole ticket is cancelled before the upgrade is made? Anyone knows?

Some days later Optiontown called me and said it seems I won't take the inbound flight. I answered that I had canceled it. The Optiontown representative replied that as soon as SAS will have notified of the cancellation I will get a refund. I replied that I had already been refunded by SAS (48 hours after cancellation, very professional of them by the way), and Optiontown lady said she will ask SAS for confirmation and then refund me.
So I was refunded for the upgrade I did not get because I had canceled the flight, but Optiontown worked with SAS on it. I don't know if I would have been fully refunded if I had cancelled before the granting of upgrade for outbound flight but I suspect yes (just a personal opinion).
With Air Baltic it is much more erratic : I changed a flight date for which I had asked for a Optiontown upgrade, but after two emails to Optiontown I did not get any answer...I suspect they wait for Air Baltic to notify them of the change of flight before reaching to me and proposing to register me on the new flight against an extra payment...so my next step will probqbly be to email AirBaltic to ask them to notify Optiontown of the change, even if I suspect it won't make any good.

I was signed up for Economy Extra -> Business on CPH-BKK, BKK-CPH. I then cancelled the trip entirely and was refunded within days. (SAS on the other hand felt like not paying anything back until I called them up again.)

Did you do anything to get a refund from Optiontown or did you just wait ?

- The flight was two months in the future and I didn't feel like lending them 300EUR for free.

That is a very interesting question, please let me know if you find out! We have had reports here that CO gives miles only for the original booking class.

No UTo for return flight either
Lots of free seats in all classes, similar to outbound flight.
However, refund for outbound is already back on my account.

The UTo cleared today (almost a week before the flight). I will come back to you when/if I get the miles to Bmi (zero of the last 6 flights has credited normally, all through retro-registration. Nowadays I pile up a couple of months flights and send in them together)...

chance for additional op-up?
I have a trip coming up next weekend (sat, feb 26th) with my wife (also EBG) and brother in-law (15y/o no EB account). Our route is KRS-CPH-IAD-TPA. I am on a seperate booking than wife and Bro in-law. We are all registered with optiontown for upgrade to Y on the CPH-IAD leg. Flight stats shows the following availability:
C/2, D/2, J/2 - all other classes are zeroed out.
I think we have a pretty good chance of being upgraded to Y, but what do you think the chances are for getting an op-up to C?
If we are not op-up'd we plan to try and use points just so my bro in-law can experience business class. The last several long hauls I've flown in Y I have been op-up'd to C due to overbooking in M/Y. As wife and I are EBG I think we'll have a good chance, but not sure how bro in-laws non-EB membership will affect any chance of an upgrade - if there are even any C seats open with such low availability. Any thoughts? I haven't been on a flight with so little availability in quite some time.
