Availability check?

Could someone with the help of some aid please check the booking load in Biz & Econ Extra on tomorrows (26/12) CPH-DXB flight, SK 961.

I'm in Eco Extra and wonder the chances of op-up or miles upgrade.

Thanks!

Well, it looks like this (pretty loaded in all classes...):

CPH Copenhagen DK [EKCH]
DXB Dubai AE [OMDB]
SUN 26 Dec 2010

Carrier Flight From Depart To Arrive A/C St Availability
--------- ------ ---- -------- ---- -------- --- -- -----------------------------------------------------------
SK 961 CPH 21:05 DXB 06:30 +1 343 0 A0 C0 D0 J0 Z0 Y0 S0 B0 E0 M0 H0 Q0 V0 W0 U0 K0 L0 T0 G0

...but, on the other hand ExpertFlyer is showing seats available in both Eco.Extra and Business. Currently there are 6 seats available in C, 3 at the bulkhead up front and 3 in the very back, in the "mini cabin".

Economy is showing up as not entirely full, currently about 15 seats available.

So you might be lucky with a "by points upgrade" at check in or gate.

Have a nice flight to Dubai!

My Business UTo for upcoming SK CPH-NRT discounted economy flight went through for 210 EUR approx 48h before departure. I sincerely hope for lounge access in CPH as I have a 5h long stayover.

Is your experience that lounge access is granted?

Snagged the last C-seat in the house, full in Y+ and I believe M was full as well.

Thank you for your help!

I was just upgraded by Optiontown to Y+ ARN-ORD 01JAN, including the whole family of five. (This is great as i will go from 25% earning to 150%, and on top of this the double statuspoints promo!) M looked almost full (4 free in availability, 6 empty in seatmap), but both Y+ and C seem to be wide open. Not very surprising on a new years day...

Optiontown web still says "Decision pending" but SAS DK Ticketoffice has sent me new e-tickets by mail, with booking class B.

Question is now if I should ask for Y+ to C upgrade for points (5*20k) or hope for op-up (probably not very likely)?!

I'm looking at CPH - IAD and ORD - CPH flights now in the Experflyer trial trying to understand how I will best utilize Optiontown with this resource.

Does anyone know or have an educated guess as to which the SK award classes are?

The CPH - IAD flight:
A0 C9 D9 J9 Z2 Y9 S9 B9 E9 M9 H9 Q9 V9 W9 U9 K9 L0 T0 G9

Considering the thread topic, I presume you mean the class to which Optiontown books into and that books into Z for business and S for E+.

However, I don't the availability of the sub-classes to Business and E+ are relevant when it comes to Optiontown upgrades. I think the general availability matters more; Economy versus E+ and Business.

For point upgrades and award trips Business books into I-class and Economy Extra to P-class, but I don't think that was your question.

Not that it matters the least, but I believe it's B, not S.

I think you are absolutely right.

After being a bit suspicious about OT when first introduced (the administrative fee and the uncertainty of the upgrade), I have now used it for a cheap K-class ticket, and will definitely do it again.

To SocialAdept: The best way is if you manage to do what Malu ad myself just did: Go from 25% miles to spend and 50% status miles to 150%/300%.

Chanches for upgrade CPH-ORD-CPH

I have optioned to upgrade through optiontown on 8 Jan CPH-ORD (SK) and 13 Jan ORD-CPH from economy to either extra or biz. I am a bit new to this.

Can anyone help me to see the availability or chanches for the opgrades?

If the upgrade through optiontown do not get through, do anyone know whether there still are chanches for upgrade with points?

Yes. The prevailing opnion around here is that Optiontown upgrades occur when M is fully booked or overbooked. Point upgrades occur when there are free seats in Y/C.

I have now used OptionTown (OT) once.

I went with an UTO (Eco+ & Bus) for the inbound flight CPH-NRT Dec 29. UTO for NRT-CPH on Dec 21 was not available. When I asked OT Customer Service why they responded that NRT-CPH is not an intercontinental flight and thus inelligable for UTO. For several obvious reasons that didn't make sense to which the Customer Service responded that NRT-CPH was not an elligable route. I gave up. In the end I used points for Business upgrade on NRT-CPH.

In any case just over 24h before the flight I was notices that the UTO went through for the Business Class option. A new itinerary was sent out by SAS. Priority lane for security, lounge access, 200% EB points etc. worked as it should. The option was 210 EUR for which 22 800 EB (qualification) points was recevied thanks to the double points drive running.

In short the OT service is not a scam but it is a black box and you should not expect to get any proper answers from their customer service. It is however an efficient differentiator for SAS to alternatives such Finnair, Austrian etc.

It is extremely frustrating to be told that you can't have a C seat on the ORD-ARN overnight, just because they have no food. Even if you only want to sleep! Even if you agree not to eat! They can't / won't do it.

cheers,

Henry

For those of you who have signed up for both E+ and C upgrades, and then got an upgrade, which one came through and/or were you ever offered both options to choose between?

Are one's chances better to sign up for both options, or is it better to sign up for the preferred option?
