Well that's (in my opinion) the whole idea about it. Those who can't stand lounghaul in M (like me due to size) don't take their chance.

I have signed up for M to Y upgrade ARN-ORD and EWR-ARN in january, for the whole family (2 adults and 3 chd). I have a three stage plan for upgrade where Optiontown is the first, then upgrade with points and then hope for an op-up, maybe even M->Y->C. Any experience regarding the chance of succeeding with this strategy for a family? Me EBG and Mrs Malu EBS - all three children only EBB at this time... I guess op-ups for a family of five is a rare thing.

In my experience the price quotes for TATL have been:

low eco to Y: 135-175 Euro
low eco to C: 311-338 Euro

Hej hej,
could I ask an experienced flyer of CPH-NRT to give me an estimate of M->Y (M->Y->C) with optiontown per person/per leg? Also it seems from this thread that CPH-NRT has rather small chances of the upgrade being given, right?
Thank you.

Sorry if this has been asked and answered previously, but a search didn't bring up any results.

If I book a ticket via UA's website (or another non-SK website), may I still apply to OT for upgrades on the SK legs of my trip? If so, what reference number do I need?

I'm finding some better routing options when querying through UA, but I would still like to try for an OT upgrade on the SK flights.

When I finally arrive at the gate, they have my boarding pass printed in C with a handwritten note "UTO upgrade". I then head for the lounge, and the dragon says I'm not allowed in since I've done an upgrade.

Checking my EuroBonus account, the trip is recorded as K economy discounted with a meager 1470 points.
I've mailed OT with this information. They did not write back, instead they called med from India. They apologized for the lounge access and said they would contact SAS, since it is supposed to be included. They also changed the points to Z (Business Discounted) which gives slightly more than 10k each way.

Not to get off topic, but when I was travelling in C on ORD-CPH over the summer, there was no dedicated "fast track" line at ORD. I had to go around the line to a security agent next to the Duty Free shop, show passport and ticket, then they opened the ropes to let me and the Mrs through, into a general line that lead to x-ray and metal detectors. Nothing was marked, and if I didn't ask we would have waited in the regular line. Is this still the case at ORD? Just asking b/c I'll be there in Feburary, and am using Uto on that trip.

There is no fixed price table. As you can see from the posts above in this thread it varies even on the same routes - probably depending on interest.

Intra-Europe flights are not eligible for optiontown upgrades.

Interesting to see, how Optiontown upgrade on MA will post to AY

I have the papers showing "D" and "J" so it may just go thru as such. BTW HEL-BUD and BUD-HEL were 60 each from S to J, BUD-OTP 42. Luckily I passed on the OTP-BUD - it turned out to be flown on an Embraer 120, not much joy in C there.

That price sounds like one-way.

I just got Low Eco to Eco Extra confirmed ORD-ARN for 151+5 per person. During double status points campaign, hence 50%->300% towards requalification.
