SFO Shuttle
Landing at SFO Saturday ~ 6pm and plan to take a shuttle to hotel near Fisherman's Wharf (yeah, I know ). Are we better off arranging in advance or winging it when we get in? My gut is to wing it, that way we can hopefully find one close to full thus getting on the road more quickly.
TIA! |

Yes, there are 3 of us so taxi may be the way to go. That would definitely eliminate the extra time waiting for a shuttle to fill + dropping others off. Price looks very similar to van for 3.
Thanks - I didn't even consider the taxi option (duh moment). Guess that comes from living near DC with their convoluted taxi fare system ... Appreciate it! |
with 3 a taxi is definitely the way to go
cost-wise and aggravation-wise.
There's no prearranged supershuttle at SFO - all just set up once you get there. |
SFO is not that far from downtown SF (unlike, say Denver) and with 3 of you I would absolutely suggest a cab. It may cost a bit more per person, but it will save your evening. That hour on Saturday may not be so busy and Super Shuttle will need to collect enough fares. Take the taxi... by the time you get there, get checked in and get ready to go out you will be still be on the decently front end of Saturday night and will get to enjoy the city. Worth a few dollars. (By the way, it is foggy and cold  here these days so bring something to wear to stay warm with in the evening!!)

Thanks all - cab it is. Price looks to be right around the same for both options so it's a no-brainer. Road closures for the Marathon don't begin until later so no problem there either.
Squeakr - several of the shuttles allow arrangements to be made on-line. Since you're giving them flight info at that time, I was thinking of that as a "reservation". But in reality it's nothing more than pre-paying your ride... thanks for clarifying. Now, let's hope for minimal fog next week ^ |
Update -
Rjque completely nailed it. Actual cab fare for 3 was $45.15 (to northwestern edge of Fisherman's Wharf). Shuttle would have been $45 and taken a lot longer. Thanks for the spot on advice! |
