What is with the crows?

There are thousands of them near where I live on the Peninsula. In the trees, on the roof, on the streets. A veritable plague of crows.

Any other reports from around the Bay?

They found out your nickname and are coming to take revenge for it, maybe?

In any case, I'm on the Peninsula too and don't notice anything unusual with crows around here.

Can't say I've noticed an increase around here. The squirrel population out in the Benicia State Park, on the other hand, appears to be at an all time high. They're running all over the place.

Interesting. My MIL lives in PA and her house is swamped in crows too.

Beware...

Hitchcock was right...

Do you see them gathering mostly at dusk? If so, there must be a crow rookery nearby.

When I was growing up in San Mateo, I don't recall seeing any crows. I would see them in Southern Cal and figured they liked warmer weather. Then I moved to Seattle and found that there were tons of crows up here.

We have a rookery about 4 miles from our house. Every evening, you can see hundreds of crows heading east towards the rookery. The area around the rookery will have crows in the trees, on roofs, telephone poles, etc. In the morning you can see them all heading west to do their daily activities.

Crows seem to have taken over the world. Hitchcock was on to something.

I live in the San Mateo area and I currently have three crows picking part of my lawn to death. Each morning and evening these three crows pluck out small tuffs of grass to eat something. First time this has ever happened and it's been going on for almost a week and now I have about a 2 foot square of bare dirt.

Each night they sit in a hugh pine tree across the street. Watching us.
