SFO Early Breakfast

I'll be meeting friends for an early breakfast on a Saturday morning near SFO. I only have a 4.5 hour stop. Is there a really good place for breakfast near the airport. I land at 6:00 am and leave around 10:30.

Thanks,
SC

I am guessing from your post that you want to leave the airport. I can recommend the Millbrae Pancake House, a 1970s-style greasy spoon where a grandmother would feel at home. It is uber close to SFO as the crow flies. Unfortunately, a cab will be required as it is too far from the Millbrae BART stop.

Yes I do want to leave the airport. Unless of course there is a great reasonably priced place at the airport ..... or, yeah, right, it is an airport, they don't do that.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Actually, the airport is full of local restaurants that (in theory) charge the in-town prices at the airport, and many of the options are appealing. However, I have no idea which ones are open for breakfast and serve decent breakfast food.

Come to think of it, Lori's Diner should serve breakfast, and should provide a meal no worse than your typical IHOP, and probably better.

I think the prices at the "local" places at SFO are roughly a factor of two of the cost at their regular locations. Also, a lot of the good stuff at the regular restaurants isn't available at the airport, possibly because they aren't allowed good knives to cut up fresh ingredients?

I was thinking of suggesting Max's in Burlingame (take the Hyatt shuttle, walk across the street) but Max's web page, which might be out of date, says that location doesn't open until 9 am.

Hey

Thanks Richard. I think I'll phone Max's and check their opening time.

Strongly recommend the following two in Burlingame:

STACKS'
http://www.stacksrestaurant.com/home.html

Copenhagen bakery
http://www.copenhagenbakery.com

Both open fairly early and there should not be any wait at that time. Plus they are very close to each other so if one is busy just walk to the other.
Cab from SFO should be around $10-15, Burlingame trolley may be an option on the way back.

Yankee Pier in the UA terminal is a decent breakfast restaurant past security. It certainly is a better option that the Burger King outlet a few doors down.

Thumbs up to Stacks -- never tried the Copenhagen Bakery -- although I always get to Stacks a lot later in the morning and have to suffer through a considerable wait.

Unfortunately, taking a cab to/from Hobee's on 101 down by San Mateo is way too far and pricey. If it wasn't, that would be my #1 recommendation.

I have friends picking me up so Stacks sounds very good and very doable!
