Hotel Upgrades
 

Looks like I will be in SF again in Sept. but I will miss the do by a week. The daughter will be starting grad school at UCD. I knew that she made the proper decision in choosing a univeristy near where I like to vacation.

By now, everyone has been exposed to the $20 front desk tipping scheme popularized on this site, in Fat Wallet and in Slickdeals. The original iteration is supposed to work in Las Vegas.

Has anyone tried this with any of the more common SF P/L hotels...I'm thinking about Westin St Francis, Hilton FD (Chinatown), Grand Hyatt, USW Hilton etc.

Does it work?

I frankly can't see $20 getting you very far in SF. $100 maybe...but not $20.

yeah well.....

I don't yet know how this will play out. Last trip I was in the Hilton and the room they gave me (w/o the front desk incentive) worked out fine. Will probably play it by ear.
