Cartwright Hotel?
 

I'm taking a group to San Francisco next summer and was looking for a decent budget boutique hotel. TripAdvisor.com had excellent ratings for the Cartwright and so far the group sales department has been lovely to work with and talk to. Has anyone actually stayed there, and if so, can you relay your experiences? I'm hoping for a pleasant stay for my group, in decent proximity to popular city locations.

My mother stayed there a few years ago. The rooms are small but decently furnished. The only noticable issue was the sound of the plumbing (I'll leave the rest to our imagination). It is very convenient to Union Square.
