Dinner with Bay and Bridge view

Looking for help with a good Seafood restaurant. Casual, for evening dinner, with a good view of the Bay and Golden Gate Bridge. Family safe area. Moderate prices. On the San Francisco side. Thanks

--never mind---

Greens at Fort Mason works beautifully. Vegetarian but even a confirmed meat eater like me doesn't mind it once in a while, it's that good.

Is this San Francisco?

Is this the best you guys can do? One of the most beautiful, romantic bays in the world, with supposedly great food. And all I get is a Vegetarian restaurant, and another restaurant in Oakland? And I asked for Seafood. Oneonta

I had a suggestion that would've fulfilled your requirements (view, Bridge, seafood)... but not with that fabulous attitude.

Have a nice stay! ^

Sorry those of us who are a bit more polite will miss out, but another low poster attitude strikes, IT! Can't say as I blame you. I was going to mention Hornblower.

Sorry to disappoint, I didn't see the word "seafood" when i read your post. But IceTrojan has a point too, you aren't motivating me much to correct my error.

I'm really quite civil

I apologize to all. I was just trying to generate some response.

Well, the best restaurants generally aren't the "view" restaurants. I highly recommend that you post on Chowhound.com in the SF Bay Area board. I've lived around here for 21 years and frankly, don't have a good seafood restaurant w/moderate pricing and a 2 bridge view to recommend. If you want an "old world" seafood meal, you might want to consider Tadich Grill or Sam's. No views. Locals from time to time are surprised at having decent meals at Scoma's. I've never been. Aqua and Farralon (if recommended) don't fit your moderate and family (nor view) requirements. But if you pass by Farralon, please peek in the dining room just to see it. By the way, I eat a lot of fish.

My favorite for seafood in San Francisco is the Hayes Street Grill. No view. I dont know that anything meets your conditions. If you want seafood go to Hayes Street Grill or a few other outstanding seafood restaurants. If you want the view and very good food, go to Greens as mentioned above. Its a excellent restaurant with a stunning view. Went there for lunch a couple months ago on a mileage run. One of my handful of favorites in the Bay area, and I am not a vegatarian either.

a) The recommendation wasn't in Oakland, but Berkeley
b) It was a recommendation for seafood.
c) Your original post didn't say which side of the bay, just a "bay view"
d) So, never mind. I've deleted my recommendation to you.

Greens is the only exceptionally good restaurant I can think of in SF with Bay and GG Bridge views. The Carnelian Room at the top of the Bank of America building has a spectacular view, but the food is nothing special (good, but not great).

Like Richard, I do not frequent vegetarian restaurants, but I've been very happy each time I've dined at Greens.

As it happens, my wedding reception was at Greens and my rehearsal dinner was at the Carnelian Room, 11 years ago. We wanted great views for the out of town guests.

Our pleasure, Oneonta. No worries on the earlier "attitude" post. We all have our pre-coffee moments.
