Zachary's Pizza
My god, what do they put in that tomato sauce?!?!?
It's so good I almost cried while eating. I'm from Chicago, and can be very picky about my pizza but it's so good I want more now I've only been to the one on Solano, yet to go to the one on Rockridge |
You are not alone.

Zachary's is awesome, but there's a new place in SF in the same league
Little Star pizza on Divisadero near Turk in SF (http://www.littlestarpizza.com/) is also very good Chicago style pizza. I like Zachary's a tiny bit better, but not enough to drive across the Bay Bridge if I'm not already over there.

I prefer the Solano location over RockRidge but both are good. Another place in the East Bay that has pizza as good as Zacharys is Pastino's
Pastinos Pasta & Pizza 4207 Park Blvd, Oakland, CA Tel: (510) 482-4701 |
Zachary's is the official pizza of my family. It's amazingly good.
I sure don't want to see the nutritional information for it, though. |

Anyone have a good place for NY style pizza? However, Massawa (Eritrean) in the Upper Haight is worth a drive from L.A. |

However, Massawa (Eritrean) in the Upper Haight is worth a drive from L.A. Escape from NY (slices), along with Pauline's Pizza are two of my fav joints in the City. I've been hearing about some other pizza place on Valencia at 16th - Arinell or something like that. Supposedly New Yorkers swear it is the closest thing to NY style pizza. Will have to walk over there and check it out. Massawa is on a whole other level. |

The Cheese Board in Berkeley is my favorite for thin crust pizza. Like Zachary's its an East Bay institution and definitely worth the drive.

Mmmm. Zachary's. Yum! It's one of the few things that will tempt me across the bay.
