covid, pcr testing near sfo ????

I know that there is a site at sfo for travel testing but it is quite pricey. Stanford health care does travel testing BUT the results can take 4-6 days so this is not very useful.
I found a "concierge" group in SF but they charge $365!
Does anyone know of other resources?

Check these guys: https://www.lookouthealth.com/ .. 15 minute rapid test, 3 testing locations in silicon valley .. $195, but they give you paperwork for insurance reimbursement

found them on this list: https://www.peninsuladoctor.com/blog...hensive-guide/

Stanford tests have been taking 24-48 hours recently. (just over 24 hours for my last 2 tests)
Of course, these times are subject to change! (I've been getting tested monthly for work)

Where are you headed?

The specific requirements of your destination jurisdiction may limit testing options, so important to know that in order to provide useful information.

I'm going to Male (NOT Mali) Maldives. I've read some unfortunate delays with the costco one but I'll check again - thanks for that.

One Medical was pretty quick for us this week -- took about 24 hours for a PCR result.

Reviews of a few more here, I prefer to saliva one to the swab so thats why I linked to Costco.

From their website it looks like I need to be a member and pay $200 for a year membership before I can even look further. Are u a member and did they charge for the test?
(I don't know why but I got an offer to purchase pcr test kits in my email today (I'm an MD) and of interest is that the cost of (multiple kits) came out to $20/each - marked down from twice that much. That was for about 6 kits - I'm not a licensed lab so this is of no use to me but it is interesting to see what the base cost is - probably cheaper for larger orders - makes the over $300 cost at sfo seem even more outrageous)

I was going to suggest CVS (or Walgreens) as their website says turn around on the PCR is 1-2 days, but I haven't heard of anyone's experience in using them. The CVS in Burlingame is doing the Rapid tests, but unfortunately not a PCR test.

You may be able to use a free trial membership: https://www.onemedical.com/lp/30-day-trial/

Might be worth looking into that.

I have never paid out of pocket for a Covid test there. They bill my insurance.

Some mixed reviews, and it looks like the kits get sent to Georgia to be processed, with no actual guarantees around processing time.

There are many options available locally with "guaranteed" processing times for around the same price or slightly more.

https://covid.mccampbell.com/ - $99 for next day, $150 for same day, $699 for 3 hours.
https://w4humanity.com/pages/san-jose - $189 for 48 hours
https://norcalcovid19testing.com/ - $120 for 48 hours (or a home kit for $39)
https://igenex.com/covid-19-same-day-testing/ - $250 for 24 hours, $400 for same day

These are just a few of the dozen or more I found when I went looking. Personally I just decided to go with the standard testing provided by my corporate health coverage. We have coverage with 2 companies that cover testing - Crossover Health who claim a max 48 hour turnaround, and Kaiser who don't guarantee a turnaround but who seem to be getting results back at the moment within 24-48 hours. Simple solution was to book a test at both and presume that worst case I'll get at least one of them back within the ~60 hours I need the results within...

Thanks, most of these are quite far but might be useful for others. I think I'm going to go the 2 test route to make sure I have the result when I need it ;)

From the "always have a backup plan" school, it turned out doing 2 tests was a very good move. Crossover Health (the one that had claimed a max 48 hour turn around time) called me about 50 hours after the test (and about 8 hours before my flight) to say my sample was missing. They claim they have the records through to giving it to the courier, but the lab claims they never received it. To their credit they were already researching other options to get another test in time at their cost - although realistically given it was already 2pm I doubt they would have had much success.

Thankfully Kaiser came through, and had results back to me in under 40 hours. Interestingly their results didn't explicitly state the test was a PCR test which the Australian government mandates, but I was able to get my doctor to put together a 2-line letter stating it was to cover any issues (although realistically I don't think it was needed).
