Grand Hyatt SFO
Looks like the new Grand Hyatt at SFO will be opening Oct 1 and taking reservations. Just saw the sign last PM. Unlikely to stay there as this is home base but it look convenient if nothing else.

Looks like an exceptionally nice airport hotel.

I have a reservation for late October. I hope it opens approximately on schedule. Pricing seems a bit high for an airport hotel on what I assume will be a low occupancy night.

It has big convenience factors in its favor with its own Airtrain stop to the terminals, BART and the rental car center.

Yes, but I expect it to be less convenient as an airport hotel than the DTW Westin or CDG (or AMS or FRA) Sheraton where you can walk to your gate without even going outside the terminal building.
ETA: I looked at the terminal maps and it appears that walking between the terminals and the hotel would inconvenient. Still, AirTrain runs every 2.5 minutes, and from the hotel stop you can take the Blue Line to International-A (two stops) or Terminal 1 (B & C, three stops). Red Line to BART (one stop), International-G (two) or Terminal 3 (F & E, three stops). At worst, the trip from the hotel to Terminal 2 (D Concourse) is four stops on either line, and that's no more than 8 minutes, station to station. All of that is leaps and bounds better than the other lodging options within a couple of miles of SFO. |
SF Gate had a review of the Hotel with pictures. Interesting that Even number rooms face the Taxi ways.

This looks like an unusually appealing airport hotel to me. I think it's going to command some very high nightly rates.

Glad they opened one here. I tend to oversleep and miss early morning flights, and can just spend the night here for those 6 am departures; much rather do this than having to call Uber or a taxi.

Now that is something I did not expect to happen outside the Grand Hyatt SFO.
[Ok, now that I've implanted that tune in your head for the rest of the day ... and maybe tomorrow, too!] |
