SFO construction - problem with returning rental car?

While leaving the rental car building there was a sign saying construction delays - so I took the detour that took me south past the terminals and dumped me out to the street that the airport In & Out is on if you cross 101.

Is there any problem with delays if you return a car using the normal rental car return exit off 101?

They are doing construction along the part of North McDonnell Road to the north of the rental car center, which along other things drops it back to being a single-lane road. It's still possible to go that way (or at least, it was previously), although be ready for the merge especially when leaving the renal car center. As you saw, they are trying to push people south instead to avoid the area completely.

The construction is mainly related to the continuing of the AirTrain onto the long term parking and a new rental car center.

(Mods alerted to move this to the SF forums where it belongs)
