What to do with 4 hour layover at OAK?

Flying BUR-OAK-LGW later this month. Even though OAK is the most-served airport out of BUR, there's a bit of a gap in the middle of the day schedule, so we'll have almost 4 hours on the ground in OAK (11:20am-3:15pm). Don't feel like hanging around the airport the entire time, and we're not checking bags, so can maximize our time between flights. Any ideas for what to do? I'm thinking that would be enough time to head somewhere for a good lunch, but I don't know what's good and not too far from the airport. Thanks!

Do you have luggage issues? Assuming you don't, and assuming you don't need agent services @ OAK before your LGW flight (and I assume you're outbound on a no TSA Pre carrier), still you don't have a lot of time. I'd consider one of the taco trucks or Mexican restaurants on International Blvd. in East Oakland.

If you like beer Drake's Brewing and 21st Amendment aren't far from the airport in San Leandro. If you just want to get out and stretch your legs, you can also walk from the airport to Oyster Bay Regional Shoreline and hike around for a bit.

EBRPD - Oyster Bay

This sounds like the best plan to me. OP doesn't have that much time to work with.

There's an airplane museum at OAK but it's not in the terminal. One plane displayed is similar to Amelia Earhart's plane. A few people might be interested in seeing UC Berkeley. There's a Walmart near OAK.

I can't recall -- are there lockers at OAK or another way for the OP not to have to lug a carry-on around with such an excursion?

I had a superb lunch the other day at Nido Kitchen and Bar, less than 10 minutes' drive from the airport. It describes itself as Farm to Table Mexican and it was one of the best Mexican meals I have had - plus great atmosphere which is so often lacking.

Nido is excellent. I'd allow 20 minutes drive time each way, as that stretch of freeway can have unexpected horrible traffic at pretty much any time of day. Right around the corner is Dashe Cellars, which produces some of the most delicious and refined Zins you'll ever drink.(Dashe open Thurs-Sun.) (Nido closed Monday.)

Note that when I just passed through OAK, I saw the Norwegian sign said the ticket counters open 4 hours before flight time, so if you need any services and that's who you're flying, they will be available when you first arrive OAK.
