SF<>LA driver

Not even sure where is the best place to post this. We have a big family event coming up this weekend in SF and an elderly relative in LA suddenly cannot fly due to medical reasons and taking the train seems too onerous to her. It appears there are private driving services. Can anyone recommend one? The cost is huge but more importantly I am concerned about entrusting the relative to an unreliable service for this long journey. Any recommendations welcome.

Have you considered Cabin, the overnight bus service with private sleeping pods?
Here is a trip report from NPR:

Why aversion to train - its a really nice leisurely ride..

At $85 per 'night plus transfer', that sleeper bus looks like fun budget option. If only the pods had room to sit upright in.

If you are comfortable putting her on a bus, then that will probably be the cheapest and easiest option. Boltbus and Megabus are the usual choices.

If not, then I think your best bet will be a local taxi company, usually called "Yellow Cab" or something similar. They will do long-distance with advance notice. Call them and ask for a rate. Make sure you use a company that ls licensed to pick up in the city where she is starting out.

Keep in mind that the OP asked this question a month ago concerning an event that has long passed.
