A beautiful Hike with amazing views
If you are a plane spotter, love seeing San Francisco or the surrounding Bay Area then head over to San Bruno Mountain State Park. The Summit Loop Trail offers amazing views and for a $6(at the time of the article) entrance fee you can bring a picnic and explore an area that often is overlooked.
You may just catch the Lufthansa or Air France Airbus 380 and other widebodies flying over. http://everybodyhatesatourist.net/tr.../#.WUgyg2grJPZ Enjoy and please let me know if you have done this trail. The best time to do it is when there is no fog for the best views. |
A few years ago I ran up and down this trail while my daughter was visiting a nearby high school. I don't recall any plane spotting, but it was a very pleasant experience with great vistas.

And here's the official brochure, with a nice map of the park, for this State & County Park (which is operated by San Mateo County):

Another possibility is Bedwell Bayfront Park
https://goo.gl/maps/eHCRVicpZP92 which, at least last year, was in a reasonable location to spot planes making the turn from base leg onto final approach. |
