The section for Southwest passengers takes a lot of extra work. The surfaces need to be easy to clean, and the lavs need extra stalls and soft spots on the floor for knees as the lounge guest worships the porcelain god.

You are assuming they will be able to count from 2 to 1.

Can you fly to all these places from OAK nonstop?

Yep: http://www.oaklandairport.com/airlines/route-map/

It's not shown on the route map, but Norwegian now flies to London-Gatwick.

I tried to see if that nonstop to the Azores from OAK was still flying. It appears to be gone, but I'm not sure. What an odd route that was.

It's a summer seasonal route. I'm not sure if it operated this year or not.

Yes, but....
  • I would not fly Norwegian for 10 hours even in "premium class" which features sharply angled seats (19" width)
  • Hawaii flights on AS have domestic F seats and digiplayers (and no wifi over the ocean, last I flew) and no E+ - still inferior to the UA service from SFO
  • The 5hr WN flights to BWI are a special form of torture

The tech guys who will drop 40 bones on a lounge would certainly want to take the more comfortable TATL flights from SFO.

OAK is great for the shorter hops on WN and the AS Hawaii flights, but unfortunately not credible long-haul player as the big boys remain fixated on SFO due to its connecting flights. Of course, if I was once again a starving student...

Maybe so for the big-bucks techies, but lots of techies are making medium-sized bucks. They may aspire to fly in comfort to far away leisure destinations, but they're not quite there yet.

Good point. My brother has a union job and loves those UC lounge passes that come with his UA Chase card

Hey, I like those UC passes too! Not exactly Virgin Atlantic Clubhouses, those United Clubs, but better than nothing.

Not apparently today in Newark where they don't seem to have valid liquor licenses.
