we return the bikes in Sausalito? or we return them with us on the ferry? |
It'll be rather cold then. I'd just take the ferry both ways.

ok sound like a plan.. but am not sure if my wife can ride for a long distance..

The bike ride from SF to Sausalito is several miles (depending where you rent the bikes) with elevation change...many tourist struggle with the ride and end up walking/pushing the bikes.
I'd recommend the ferry in both directions. Check the schedules: http://www.oursausalito.com/sausalit...sausalito.html Note the two different routes to/from Sausalito (Fisherman's Wharf and the Ferry Building). |

While I strongly recommend this bike rental idea generally, it does not sound like it would work for the OP and his wife. As you say, there are hills along the route; it's not a tough ride, but it's not easy, either.

Ferry would be the easiest, and it's a nice ride.

As VickiSoCal said, no worries on getting aboard the ferry. The ride will be very scenic unless it's stormy or very foggy.

Another vote for the ferry. It's fairly cheap and you get stunning views of the bay. Plus it departs pretty regularly and you're dropped off right downtown in Sausalito.

That's a matter of perspective. I moved to San Francisco from Wisconsin 25 years ago. I have yet to experience cold here.

Based upon his posting history, the OP is from a much warmer clime than Wisconsin or San Francisco.
