That said, if you must have DCA and a direct flight, only United offers this, once a day DCA-SFO. Actually I take that back; Virgin may also offer one DCA-SFO a day. Virgin, UA have direct IAD-SFO many times a day. If you don't mind connecting, AA/US have many DCA-XXX-SFO, where XXX will be DFW, ORD, and CLT mostly. Prices very sensitive to when you want to go but expect to pay between $400-$700 RT. Deals sometimes available.
