There is a pay-per-use place.

Shower facilities are available at Freshen Up! located on the Departures/Ticketing Level of the International Terminal, near the entrance to Gates G91-G102. Freshen Up! is open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. For additional information call 650.877.0798. - See more at: http://www.flysfo.com/faqs#sthash.q3GzSnSX.dpuf

United's Arrivals Lounge outside of security on the baggage claim level of T3 has something ridiculous like 15 showers in it, but it sounds like your transiting SFO rather than arriving there so you probably wouldn't have access (although it might not hurt to ask).

There are also showers in the Admirals Club and SQ club if you have access.

Haven't used this in a while, but it's a very nice facility. If you have the time, no reason why you can't go out and then pass back thru security, even easier if you have pre-check.

If you're coming in from an International flight and transiting on to another flight, don't you have to go through security again anyway after going through customs?

I might be mistaken but I read somewhere this arrival lounge is only for international first?
