Free Cigar

Michigan-based CigarFox.com offering a free cigar if you'll sign up on their website.

Cool site, too. And decent prices.

Thanks. Sometimes a free cigar is just a free cigar.

There is little evidence that an occasional cigar significantly increases health risks (see, e.g., http://www.usc.edu/health/usccare/se...ps/cigars.html).

At some point you have to leave the bubble and enjoy life, despite the risks. Otherwise, what's the point?

Life is a series of cost-benefit analyses. Nothing we do comes without risk, and we base our decision to partake in life’s activities on the likelihood of harm from each specific event.

Being in the sun is terrible for the well being of our skin. Yet, we venture outside everyday because it feels good and because the likelihood of harm is low, if we exercise discretion.

A life without risk is no life at all. The reward of a calculated risk is the privilege to enjoy life. I will not give up that privilege because certain people choose to live life irresponsibly, thereby making my decisions seem dangerous. The fact that people get skin cancer from overexposure will not prevent me from going outdoors; the fact that people break bones by way of recklessness will not prevent me from skiing; the fact that people get into car accidents at irresponsible speeds will not prevent me from driving.
What careless people will remind me to do is exercise discretion.

I understand the risks I take when I smoke, when I drink, when I work, when I exercise, when I drive, when I breathe. Nevertheless, I accept those risks because I know my enjoyment of life has been bettered by that acceptance.

Quantity or quality? Longevity or life?
I chose the latter.
