Ruth's Chris Summer Celebration for two $89

Received this in an email this week from Ruth's Chris:

Summer Celebration for Two: $89

Start your summer off right by joining us for the Summer Celebration at Ruth’s Chris. You and a guest can enjoy 2 three-course meals for $89. Begin with a soup or salad, followed by an entrée and a side dish. Choose from five entrée courses, including our signature filet, our fresh fish selection or our delicious chicken. End your evening sharing one of our homemade desserts. There’s cause for celebration this summer at Ruth’s Chris. Available for a limited time.

I phoned my local Ruth's Chris to see if they are a participating location. I was told this is available nationwide, seven days a week, through September 1, 2008.

No coupon necessary.

Got a similar email. Even better than the Morton's deal ^ ^

Another sign that consumer spending on non-essential items is tanking thanks to high oil prices and a weakening economy.

Just a technical question: is it really two three course meals if you have to share a dessert? I'm not good at sharing desserts.

Ruth's portions were extra small except for the apple tart. The salad was just a plate of mixed green lettuce with some dressing. Half of what you get at Mortons for their $99 special.

Yes, the dessert is shared. We opted for the chef's chocolate selection, which was sort of a chocolate lava cake w/ice cream. The serving was very large, so no problem sharing. We were stuffed at the end.

After two visits, I'd agree with the previous poster the salads are a bit underwhelming. I had the Ceasar the first visit and the Steak House salad the next time. Personally, I preferred the Steak House Salad best when it comes to flavor. Granted the salads may have looked a little puny, but at the end of the evening, we're stuffed! Desserts seem to always put us "over the top".

On a side note, we generally always bring our own wines. On our second visit, we brought a 2001 Syrah. Our server was very interested in our wine (Syrahs being her favorite), so we poured her a glass. That small gesture got the corkage fee waived, which was a nice unexpected perk.
