Mypoints OTX Surveys--Are They A Scam?
I don't know if anyone else has this happen, but it seems that almost everytime I click through to a survey by OTX they ask a lot more than basic demographic questions, only to non-qual you to 10 points instead of 50.
Yesterday, after 'clearing' demographic questions, I did a survey about gaming platforms. There were several questions about my knowledge of different systems. After entering data on about three screens I then received several more questions about my opinions, did I play, did I own, etc. When it came to a question about future purchase decisions and I answered that it was unlikely that I would soon buy a new system, I then received the non-qual statement. This is not the first time this has happened. Does anybody else have a similar experience? |
I can't tell you how many times that has happened to me. I use to click on "try to qualify for another survey," but that just led me back to the disqualified page. Now I just take the 10 points and run.
On the other hand, I've had better luck with OTX on CreationsRewards where you can take 1 survey a day. |
spartacus ; ".. Does anybody else have a similar experience?
Lots of that complaint going around ... Not quite a SCAM, but pretty d@mn shady. /. |
50 mypoints for a survey (I think of it as 25 UA miles) is so much less than any other reputable surveyor, like e-rewards or opinionplace, that I've never put much stock in them anyway...
If I ever click on a survey I try and pre-disqualify myself by being too honest-- work in marketing, did every survey known to man in the last 6 months, etc. 10 mypoints (5 miles) MIGHT be worth an early disqualification, but not anything more to me. |
happens a lot to me as well. does feel like a scam!
|
i'm the opposite, I try to get disqualified as I only want the ten points as I don't want to take the time for the fifty
I answer the following each time female, 12 y.o. live in other automatic disqualification, works like a charm and its an easy ten |
I tend to qualify for the OTX surveys when I take them through Sunshine Rewards. They pay .75. I also take a daily survey there through Greenfield that pays .80 a day. Cash 'em in for gift cards or Paypal. Great, honest site.

It happens to me on Mypoints but not Creationsrewards. Must just be MyPoints.

I accidently said I was a female for one survey and a couple days later my Mypoints account was frozen and I was "banned". Mypoints didn't even answer my email trying to clear it up. |
Yes it is a scam!
I am sure they know damn well that they are doing this. It seems to happen all the time with me. Until someone posted the disqualification plan, I just deleted them. |

So at what point do we consider finding a shark that does class-action lawsuits. We wouldn't get squat, the lawyer would make a killing, but mypoints would get slammed.

Sounds weird..especially because I thought the surveys were anonymous and confidential. In particular, I thought OTX couldn't tell Mypoints who said what. If these surveys AREN'T sacrosanct, then I'm bloody worried about who knows what about me!:td::td:
I once B.S-ed my way through an OTX survey on another website (one of the survey sites - Greenfield maybe), convincing them I had an eating disorder. In the weeks following that survey, it was clear I was receiving targeted ads that I did not opt into willingly. "Fight your eating disorder head on" and the like. |
