Award question
 

My wife and I have burned practically all points in our DL accounts. Currently, DL only offers a 48 hr. window from time of booking award to purchase of same. In our case, given that we would only consider F or J, that would involve depositing a minimum of 250K points from our Amex or Marriott accounts prior to ordering award tickets. This would be necessary in order to avoid any risk of point transfer outside of the 48 hr. window. Do other airlines have such a similarly narrow window? DL previously allowed 14 days. We can consider any airline allowed under Amex or Marriott plans.

Just as a point of information, my recent transfer of Membership Rewards points to DL took only a couple of hours from linkage of a new account to deposit of the MR points in the newly-linked DL account. The offiicial MR stance is that it can take up to five days to link to domestic airline accounts and up to two weeks for international accounts but in my experience it has never taken more than one day for the entire process. I assume your MR account is already linked to your DL account so the transfer should be almost immediate and well within the 48 hold of which you speak. Of course, YMMV :D
