Don't hold your breath.

Don't mean to thread-crap, but this company RARELY sends out anything without checking first.

Doesn't look too good. :(

I just found this interesting...

The optical mouse actually uses a tiny camera to take 1,500 pictures every second. Able to work on almost any surface, the mouse has a small, red light-emitting diode (LED) that bounces light off that surface onto a complimentary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) sensor. The CMOS sensor sends each image to a digital signal processor (DSP) for analysis. The DSP, operating at 18 MIPS (million instructions per second), is able to detect patterns in the images and see how those patterns have moved since the previous image. Based on the change in patterns over a sequence of images, the DSP determines how far the mouse has moved and sends the corresponding coordinates to the computer. The computer moves the cursor on the screen based on the coordinates received from the mouse. This happens hundreds of times each second, making the cursor appear to move very smoothly.

Optical mice have several benefits over wheeled mice: No moving parts means less wear and a lower chance of failure. There's no way for dirt to get inside the mouse and interfere with the tracking sensors. Increased tracking resolution means smoother response. They don't require a special surface, such as a mouse pad.

Just in cast you were dying to know all this...

Well, if you don't want to wait the N weeks to maybe or maybe not receive this one, you should know that you can get optical mice for almost nothing nowadays. You can probably find a wired one for under $10 (maybe $5), and a wireless as cheap as $15. Look around Amazon or just head to your local Staples/Office Depot/Office Max and look around their computer section.

Easy as pie...Thanks for the post. I hope it works.

Wow, I'm getting something for free. :D

Thanks. Was just "mousehunting" last night. Might wait a little & see if this one will do. I'm sure for "free", one can only expect so much. It will be interesting to see how long this takes to arrive.

In case you dont get this freebie, the local BB,CC or compUSA stores seemingly take turns in offering optical mice for about $10 wired and $20 wireless. I recently bought a MS laptop optical wireless mouse Mod No 3000 for $20 and no rebates to bother with. It works fine.
