Partnership Plus Program Changes Coming

Got the monthly e-mail for Partnership Plus. Put in for 3,000 mile redemption for American Airlines. I noted the below announcement and hope that it doesn’t mean changes for either American or United participation in this program. For those who have points it might be the time to cash them in.

“Great news! We've heard you say that you want a wider selection of rewards to choose from so starting in July 2006, we will introduce an entirely new rewards package, with more variety and better point levels!

This means that we will no longer offer some of our current rewards, so if you've had your eye on something for a while, try to redeem it today.”

I saw that and am a bit nervous. I always save up for the cash. I wish they had told us what was going to be changing.

I don't know what else will be eliminated - but it did say "... we will no longer offer ... magazine subscriptions ..."

I think the cash option is going to stay! :D

The scoop on miles

Received today, April 7, 2006:
Dear Gary,

Thank you for your e-mail inquiring about out new rewards program that will take effect this July. We will no longer be offering Air Travel Miles (emphasis added), but we will have other travel rewards such as points towards hotel stays and Celebrity Cruises. Also, we will be offering cash rewards, but the amount may differ. You may be able to redeem more points so that you can get a check for a greater amount, or something along those lines. Nothing is set in stone yet, so I am not able to give you exact details. I truly think that you will be pleased with the new rewards program. I hope this helps, and please let me know if there is anything else that I can do for you. Thanks again!

If you have any further questions please feel free to contact me at [email protected].

Sincerely,
Kim Sharp
Director of Member Relations

Well at the web site and sure enough both American and United are now not participating in this program. Will have to look at this again later, but big disappointment to see the airlines gone.

"Starting in July 2006, if you have enough Partner-Points in your account, you now have the option to redeem your Partner-Points every month!
Plus we've updated the reward choices.
· We now offer Reward Choice™ Certificates ranging from $10-$100, that are redeemable for gift cards and certificates to more than 70 national retailers.
· Checks are now worth more than ever! With enough points you can receive a check worth either $75 or $100.
If you would like to save up your Partner-Points to redeem at a later time, click the Save Points button:"

Ah, nuts! The air miles were the whole point of participation for me.
