Problems at Milepoint.com?

I ordered two magazine subscriptions through Milepoint.com in mid-August, at a cost of about 5000 airline points. The subscriptions have not yet arrived, and Milepoint was unresponsive to an e-mail I sent them two weeks ago. I attempted to send them a follow-up e-mail today at their customer service address ([email protected]), and got a delivery failure notification, indicating that the address was invalid. The Milepoint web site seems to have gotten less robust over the years, with fewer options and partners. Does anyone know if I should kiss off these 5000 miles (which have already been deducted from my airline account) and prepare for a life without The Economist and Fortune magazines? Thanks.

Glad I never ran across them--have you checked with the Better Business Bureau? They probably won't do much but can tell you if there are other complaints. Your local DA's office may have someone (like a consumer advocate) that can point you in the right direction.

Beware of Milepoint Magazine Subscriptions

Well, here's an update: After getting e-mail assurances from MilePoint over the past few months that the subscriptions I ordered in August 2005 were on their way, I got a postcard from MilePoint today that said:

March 9, 2006: Thank you for your subscription request. Unfortunately, this magazine is no longer available for this program. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Please select an alternate magazine from the list on reverse....Again, thank you for being a valued MilePoint member.
To substitute for The Economist and Fortune subscriptions that I requested, I am expected to select from a limited list that includes Bassmaster, Elegant Bride, Golf for Women, Jane, Latina Magazine, Out, Rev! (Pastoral Resources), and Runner's World.

I'm going to try to get my miles refunded back into my airline account and will update this thread regarding my success or lack thereof. In the meantime, beware of Milepoint.com magazine subscriptions!

I received the same postcards recently...
I originally cashed in miles back in 08/05 when I signed up for Scientific American. Of course that one's no longer available either

Definitely keep us posted as to your progress with those shysters. Good luck!

Similar issues

I fought to get my FT subscription, and it eventually arrived about five months late (after several phone calls, a fax, and some emails). About a month after it began delivering, I received the "sorry, but yr chosen subscription is unavailable" postcard -- despite the fact that it was delivering regularly, and is still listed on the website. They're incompetent, clearly, but it's a great way to use orphan miles that would otherwise sit unused (Midwest). The Financial Times is only 2000 miles and makes for a great second newspaper.
