$25 for new Cingular service

I didn't see this posted before, so I figured I'd start it. We can make it a conga if there's sufficient response, but everyone's limited to 5 referrals per year anyway. :)

If you sign up for NEW Cingular service on a plan of $39.99 per month or higher, then both you and whoever refers you get a $25 VISA debit card, good anywhere VISA is accepted. The service has to be new - contract renewals are not eligible as far as I can tell. Also as far as I can tell, you can sign up through any Cingular reseller - Cingular's own store, Amazon.com, or any local store. The only requirement is that the plan is $39.99/mo or higher (family plans are allowed). This allows you to take advantage of whichever deal is best for you and STILL get the referral credit.

If you ALREADY signed up for Cingular within the past month, you can STILL be referred and both you and the referrer can get the $25 credit. If you signed up more than a month ago, you can't be referred but you can still join the referral program and refer other people. (You are limited to earning $125 per year for yourself, but I believe you can refer as many people as you want and THEY will get the $25 regardless of whether you've reached your limit... but I can't be positive about that, since I've never reached my limit!)

I am neither endorsing nor recommending Cingular since everyone's needs and preferences are different (however, they are my preferred carrier). However, if you are on the fence about which provider to join, this may be an incentive for Cingular since you can earn the $25 initially and then another $125 per year by referring 5 other people. If you are planning on getting Cingular service anyway or have gotten new Cingular service within the past month, then this is a no-brainer!

The website with information is at: https://referral.cingular.com. Before signing up, make sure you read the overview and FAQs to make sure that you know how it all works, and to make sure that all the info I've presented is correct.

If you want to be referred, PM me with your full name and email address. I will send you a referral invite and you just need to follow the instructions in that invite (registering on the website and signing up for service, in whichever order is most convenient for you).

I will update this thread as needed and/or once my referrals are exhausted for the year. :)

Let the referring begin! :-D Mods, let me know if you want this to be a conga, or whether everyone can exhaust their 5 referrals.

Cingular Orange is terrible - a total rip off! I believe anyone on a new Cingular activation should go on the blue side. If they have the options...

Please

Conga lines please, one person per referral. Otherwise we can see this turning into another pyramid scheme

Thanks

No problem. Although since everyone is limited to 5 referrals anyway, it would be a very short pyramid! ;) But Conga it is.

I don't think you can actually get any new service on the blue side anymore... the AT&T Wireless website points to Cingular now, and Cingular is working to kill off the AT&T branding entirely (old plans should remain in effect until cancelled, AFAIK). FWIW, when I made the choice between Cingular and AT&T 1.5 years ago, I chose Cingular because (at the time) it had better family plans and equipment rates. Another big plus was that Cingular sold (and still sells) their phones unlocked, so you could use them with other SIM chips - this is a big help when using the phone abroad. AT&T phones were locked so you'd have to pay for an unlock kit or for someone to unlock it for you. (Note that Cingular won't TELL you their phones are unlocked... so this could change. But for the last few years, all their phones are sold unlocked.)

But anyway, this thread absolutely wasn't about whether you SHOULD sign up for Cingular. It was about, if you *DO* sign up for Cingular, both you and I (or whoever else is your referrer, down the conga line) get $25 out of it.

The referral is still open, in case anyone's signing up. ;-)

So, I know this is an old thread... and Cingular is now AT&T. But, the referral program still works. Since the iPhone just came out last weekend, I figured this might be a good time to bump this.

If you took the opportunity to switch to AT&T over the last weekend (whether for the iPhone or not), or will be doing so soon, then PM me for a referral. Then we can get this going as a conga, so that the next referral will go to the next person, etc. With a $25 gift card going to both referrer and referred, it's a good deal that helps defray the somewhat ludicrous cost of cell service. :)

Note that unlike in the OP, the $25 gift card is now good only at AT&T stores or att.com... but you can use it to pay your bill, i.e. turn it into cash with no loss.

(FWIW, you can refer up to 5 people per year. I've still got all my referrals available...)

Traditionally we try to avoid bumping 3 year old threads. that said, this should be ok with this. If it does not operate as a nice conga I will close it.

I do, too, but I figured since the program was identical, it might be easier on the housekeeping (and my fingers ;)) to do so rather than open a new one. Thanks for allowing it. :)

Just a suggestion, but the mods might want to retitle the thread as AT&T service - as the old AT&T Wireless has been fully absorbed by Cingular almost 2 years ago (apparently no one on the old "blue side" will have accessible service on the network as of Aug.1 - I know this as I was just suggestively migrated by AT&T CS last week, after resisting for 3 years now - thereby skipping the Cingular identity altogether :D), and Cingular has now fully divested itself of its former name in favor of The New AT&T.

Saw the Sprint thread and figured this might deserve a bump... anyone signing up for new AT&T service can get a free $25 VISA gift card (good for AT&T products or services, including paying your bill) when signing up for new mobile service - including the new iPhone. The referrer also gets a gift card.

If you're interested, PM me and we can get this conga going... it's not a bad deal if you're signing up for service anyway!
