HP Laptop/PC Discounts?
I am new to the SPAM forum, so pardon my post if it's inappropriate. Just curious if anyone knows any vendors or methods to get a decent discount on HP laptops...their EPP programs only seem to offer a token 7-8% off equipment, so it's not a great deal. Dell is far more aggressive, but only HP has those sweet 64bit Athalon laptops. Any advise is appreciated :) Any travel partners that could add extra miles to my credit card purchase would be an added bonus :)

Don't know if they work, but Google yielded this: http://dealsdujour.com/merchant.cfm?mid=359
If you have a specific one you want, you may be able to get some Best Buy coupons if BB sells them - they regularly have random coupons available. Also, as the holidays are coming up, if you can wait til after the holidays, you may get better (but possibly worse) deals on a new computer. |
Thank you for the link. I will play around with the pricing to see if I can get a deal. I was thinking to wait until after Thanksgiving as the deadline for Christmas shipping approaches, they might have better incentives. Now if I could only get the double points deal from the Amex SPG card :)

i had a HP offer the other day...got it in the mail sent to my business.. ill see if i can find it and post it.
I get these spam things all the time from HP and one from DELL at least once a month |
You can usually find deals on www.bargainblog.com for lots of computer stuff. I usually cross reference what I find there with the mileage earning comparison chart to see which airlines mall has the best mileage earning opportunity.

Here's a great one!
It's $100 rebate for the Compaq Presario R3000Z: R3000Z PDF coupon
And you can find out all you need to know beforehand here: R3000 Forum If you are looking for a home-PC replacement laptop that cannot be beat for ~$1100 w/ a 15.4" widescreen and AMD 64 chip, I can tell you it's killer! I love it! But, be warned it's ~7 lbs and not for regular-lugging travel. If you link through the HP-Shopping link found at this forum thread Fat Wallet Link site, you'll get 3% off in addition to the deal... 30 bucks is 30 bucks! Google R3000Z for reviews, including a very good one at PC Mag. Good luck! ^ (BTW, it's made in China by Compal, one of the leading OEM laptop makers, and arrived 6 days after ordering!) |
Thanks all! I checked out the forum...very helpful information there. Mine priced out quite abit higher because I loaded it up with some goodies - I dont buy computers that often (my current PC is a 5 yr old PII-266), so I want to make sure I get a full 64bit chip that will protect me when Windows and many of my favorite apps are updated to take advantage of the new technology - without having to spend money on a computer again.

I looked at the Gateway and Emachine offerings, but they are only WXGA, which isn't good enough. I am also not a fan of sending my laptop in for service, which is something Dell does onsite - but I doubt Dell will offer a 64bit processor for at least a year or two. |
