Yes. There's a minimum and it varies by restaurant.

Somebody mentioned this a while ago, but buying a "mega certificate" when there's a good promo (I bought mine at 60% off) isn't a bad idea. I tend to use about 2 of these a month, so for 30 bucks out of pocket I'm set for a few months. Using the mega certificate is simple -- you put in the code and it draws off your certificate like a bank account. It saves time watching for the best discount, or taking the chance that the day you want to buy a certificate, there's no promo code. Since restaurant.com has been in business a while and seems at least modestly successful, I figure I can take a risk on 30 bucks.

It SOUNDS like a good deal, but I am unfamiliar with TicketsNow. Taking a quick look at it, they seem to be a professional scalper (is that now legal?) with very high ticket prices. So maybe $50 doesn't go very far? ;)

A few times I have been under the minimum $ requirement on a certificate by a dollar or two and nothing has been said to me. It's really up to the restaurant and I would have been happy to buy a coffee or dessert to bring the total above the minimum.

I'd ask the restaurant first (before you purchase) but I would not expect an exception to the T&C.

I've used Restaurant.com certificates dozens of times and never been denied using one. The restaurants have always been happy to accept them. The only reoccuring problem I have is the server at first forgets to take it off the check...
