Hey Guys,

Do you think we could make a post with all of the information required and keep on reposting that as well? I mean, I know everything has been posted before, but it's gonna take a while to view over 100 pages and I think it would be very helpful to newcomers, just a suggestion

The information would include:

FreeiPods Number
FreeiPods Email
Ancestrys Number to Cancel
AOL MusicNet's Number to Cancel
AOL Broadband's Number to Cancel
Augie Kim's Number
Augie Kim's Email

Once again, this is just a suggestion, feel free to ignore all of this, i just think that others would find it very helpful, OR you could just post this once and on the posts that explain the rules, you can just add what page all the contact information is on

Question: Do you have to actually be winning a bid on ebay for it to count? I was immediately outbid, so I'm not sure if that counted.

all you have to do is bid... you don't have to win ;)

I keep reading that Ancestry.com is one of the offers, but it didn't show up for me or my brother. Do the offers change/vary? It would seem that ancestry.com would be the simplest to use for this.

Yes, eBay and Ancestry often get taken off the list, but they always reappear.

eBay is the simplest as there is no credit card required nor cancellation, however Ancestry is instant offer credit which means faster free iPod :)

Ancestry and ebay offers are on and off... sometimes they disappear for a while and come back a while later.

Ancestry is generally considered the best offer to use since it has instant credit and won't charge you anything if you call to cancel. Down side is that people have complained that their customer service may be a bit pushy and rude when you call to cancel, but I didn't have tha problem when I called.

Ebay is good if you have an isp/university email and you don't need instant credit. Good thing is you don't need a CC number if you have a valid email, and you don't have to do anything much like call to cancel, just need to place a single bid. Bad thing is your valid email might get spammed, and right now the offer is taking a long time to credit (>3 days).

PS make sure that you and your brother don't use the same shipping address on freeipods, or they might put you on hold indefinitely. :(

From what I've read, you must at least be the highest bidder for a short period of time, i.e. can't be immediately outbid on an item. My suggestion is to log back into the eBay website, pick the type of product you want to bid on (I like golf gear), and then sort the material using the drop-down box. Sort by "Price: Lowest First". This gave me many items that were $0.01 and some of the items did not have any current bidders, shown by a -. I placed a $0.25 bid on 3 dozen golf balls which did not have any current bidders. If I win the auction, I will happily pay the $0.25 plus shipping. In all likelihood, I will not win. However I have met the requirement of being the high bidder for at least a short period of time.

How long does it take for a verification email to be sent to you. I've been waiting for 2 days now and am getting a bit worried.

Are you sure of this requirement? Where did you read it from? How long is a 'short period of time'?

Verification email shold come almost immediately, unless you're using a hotmail account, which is known to have some problems with this.

Does hotmail have a bulk mail folder like yahoo? If yes then you should check that... because yahoo thought my verification email was spam and sent it to bulk mail.

Ebay has automatic bidding so you need to become the highest bidder. Lets say an item is currently at $10 but the bidder set his bid to $15. Ebay doesn't set your bid as whatever you typed into the box, it just uses that value as the maximum it would bid for you. If you bid $11 on the item, you will be automatically outbid by the person who set his bid to maximum of $15. To become the highest bidder, you need to bid over the other person's maximum. I don't think there is any way to tell what the other person's max bid is, but they will notify you if you've become the highest bidder. For my ebay bid, the item was at $10.50 and I bid $15. Then ebay automatically made my bid $11, 50c more than the current bid. Then the other person's automatic bid set his 50c higher, etc until it got to $15. The other person's highest bid was under $15 so I became the highest bidder.
