$20 Amazon.com GC for freddiemac.com website feedback

Freddiemac is trying to get a feedback on the design of their website by giving out
$20 Amazon.com electronic gift certificate. If you go to www.freddiemac.com, a pop-up from an outside market researcher will appear. Make sure you delete any freddiemac.com's cookies on your computer from prior visits.

Thanks Fun Girl. The survey takes about 15 minutes.

MeLike2Travel Mar 3, 2004 4:58 pm

Didn't get the survey http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

Maybe it's for random visitors.

Thanks Fun Girl.

Took 10 Minutes!

When did you receive your GC?

Does it come automatically to you?

I haven't received it yet. I think the pop-up said that a GC will be e-mailed to those who provided a complete feedback. We shall see...

They said the GCs would go out after the full survey is complete - so that could be days or weeks, depending on how many they are doing, etc.

No pop up for me. I will try again at the office tomorrow.

I gave the survey but forgot to give email address in initial part. In the final page when they asked for any more info to be passed to them I mentioned that I havent given them my email id and I entered it there before final upload. Lets see if i get the GC.

I don't see any link on the freddiemac web site for a survey, perhaps they've gotten enough reponses

I filled out the survey also. It did require the installation of some third party survey software. I was planning on uninstalling the software after the completion of the software, but now I notice that it doesn't even show up in Windows "Add or Remove Programs" list. Hmm, anyone remember the specific name of the software? Ad-Aware didn't pick it up, so maybe it's not mining any data but I'd rather be safe then sorry and get it off of my computer...

If it is not in Control Panel's Add/Remove programs, and if Ad-Aware did not pick it up (probably because it's a new software and it's not in their databases yet or something), try this: Open up IE, go to Tools -> Options, on the General Tab in the middle of the screen click on Settings and on the settings screen click on View Objects. If you're lucky, it might show up there. You'll see Update Class ( for windows update) and Shockwave plugin probably, and some other ones, but right-click on any of those that have weird/strange names or those that you dont recognize, go to properties and you will see listed the url link where it came from. Now if you dont remember the website for the survey, you could try ruling out others, just by looking at their properties and perhaps recognizing the URL link where they originally came from.

I, for one did not opt to take the survey, just because of that stupid plug-in which i was not familiar with and did not know what it might do to my computer.
If the above steps are unsuccessful, you might want to try System Restore if you're running Windows XP, or perhaps, as a last resort, if you're really concerned about what data might that software *still* collect from you, just back up your important files and reinstall the OS.
Good luck removing it.

LAX21,

Thanks for the reply!

I'm not super worried about the program considering it's linked to a reputable site, but I will most likely get rid of it one way or another. I'm not going to uninstall Windows though - that's way too much of a hassle with all of the programs I run. Thanks though for your input!

*****EDIT*****
I just went back and re-read your note about checking the plug-in files for URLs and found the ActiveX control that I was looking for. I deleted it from my system. THANK YOU!
