Bye bye erewards

I went to cash out my $65.00 and found that there are just no good buys for that price. So, I have decided to kiss erewards good-bye. I hope that my departure from their db means other folks here that appreciate them will receive more emails.

Next on the chopping block: MyPoints.

I just had to go check and make sure nothing changed ... $50 = 3,000 HHonors points ... what's wrong with that offer?

Unfortunately the problem is you should have cashed out as soon as you reached $50 (wich I assume happened before 1/1/04), because you will lose a good part of whatever you earned before 1/1/04 over the $50.

You lose the points at the beginning of April (not Jan).

The problem is that many of the rewards (e.g. Hilton, Hertz) are much watered down from what the program offered a few years ago, and some rewards (e.g. ski lift tickets) have been eliminated entirely.

Fully agree with you. The rewards are not really rewards these days. No much choice and if there is any ( like Blockbuster) you can redeem only once a yr..Worst rewards program I have seen in yrs.

Well, I have been very satisfied with Erewards. It takes up very little of my time, and I get the 2,500 AA miles reward every 4 to 5 months. It's time well spent for me, and I'm happy to get those extra miles.

I'm with you dingo, but for another reason--the points don't post for me (larger $ amounts). I just sent another e-mail yesterday listing $22 in surveys from Nov/Dec that didn't post. Previously, I spent way more time than I should have trying to get another $27 to post. Last survey for $5 on Snapple/beverages took at least 30 minutes and it hasn't posted. I've come to my senses and now see it's not worth the hassle for me.

I did absolutly nothing except invest a few mouse clicks last year to get $150 in e-rewards. It cost me but a few minutes of my time in which I would have been doing nothing important anyways.

I totally don't understand how people are so incredibly busy, and their time is so incredibly valuable, that a few clicks here and there that nets you thousands of hilton points or something could be a waste of time.

I've done several higher value survey. Not a single one has ever posted, nor are my emails to customer service replied to.

The bulk are from greenfield - I think.

I'm just not going to do those any longer.

We've heard your story before, but I believe that your earnings are an aberation. Most people don't earn anywhere near that much. And if you are spending 2-3 minutes clicking around for a 50-cent reward, then the time investment is a factor. If $25 in e-rewards buys you $10 worth of Hilton points (and I am being very generous on the valuation), then each e-mail is "worth" about 20 cents. Compound that with the fact that the e-mails are very infrequent and it is easy to see why many people are less than enthusiastic.

Well, it's probably good everybody is leaving then, because then I'll get even more surveys http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I've got HHonors points coming out a variety of body parts due to all of their 50k promos. I've got two GLONS to redeposit on top of the 70k in my account now. That was my first choice for redemption but they just don't seem too appealing any more.

The first year I got the lift ticket in Vail...gone. Second year I got the $ off Hertz (I think)...gone. Was going to get the Hertz this year but it requires a five day rental which I don't have. As my wife said: a discount that requires the purchase of something you don't need (ebags) isn't that great of a deal.
