My points....Ughhhh

Has anyone encountered the scenario whenre the have made a purchase through the Mypoints.com web-site which should have earned points, but the points didn't post? If so, how did you get them to post? I have E-mailed them(Monday) and got a prompt auto-reply from them but nothing since. Any help would be appreciated.

My Points used to be the best at posting, but they have gotten sloppy recently. If you send them a copy of the receipt for the merchant they will track it down. Even though I have had to remind them on my last five purchases, they have always taken care of the problem once I sent them the confirmation E-mail from the merchant.

That reminds me, always save the conformation E-mail from the merchant.

The bad news:
Except for one time, the scenario you describe always happens to me whenever I make a purchase via MyPoints. This minor inconvenience can be annoying.

The good news:
All it ever takes for me is one e-mail to MyPoints Member Care with proof of my purchase and I get the points I earned within a week or two. Their customer service via e-mail is always very friendly.

Usually the follow-up e-mail comes 2-7 days after the auto-reply. Give them a few more days and, if you do not get a response from them, e-mail them again.

Suggestion: Any time you make a purchase through MyPoints, always keep any e-mail documentation and other documentation, as well as any customer and/or receipt numbers, as proof of your purchase through MyPoints in case this happens again - and it will happen again. It has always helped me.

I hope my information and experience has helped you and anyone else to whom this has happened.

I agree completely. With My Points it seems the motto is "If at first you don't succeed, nag and nag again!"

Unfortunately, I have had trouble with mypoints making timely posts. To correct the problem has required several emails instead of just one. Then, after they finally correct the problem, they post the points into the "earned but not yet spendable" bucket.

Yes, it does become irritating, and subsequently tempered my enthusiasm for acquiring mypoints.

i never buy anything through mypoints anymore...it's a hit and miss whether you get the points credited, and if you don't, i have zero interest in spending 1 second of my time to have to "fight" for it...screw it...i'll take reading their little emails and that's it.

My experience since December is all of my Marriott awards that I have earned have cleared (after waiting one month)...but I haven't seen any in the mail! Where are they going? Has anybody got any of these lately? I think I have four different redemptions of between one and four certificates shown as sent but I haven't seen them.

Also, I am continually annoyed at having to send in the documentation for points, getting the auto-response, waiting for a human response, and then getting sent a form letter telling me to wait 20 days from purchase for a post. This is after waiting the 20 days in the first place! And then you have to start the whole thing over again. If I wasn't so hard-headed I would just forget the whole thing and just buy at office depot and tupperware and 1-800 Contacts. At least those usually post with no problem. Did someone say a mypoint is worth less than 1 cent? Am I getting all worked up over a couple of dollars?

Isn't it to their benefit for me to buy something throught their site and award me my points? Sometimes I think it's like they are doing me a favor by giving me what they promised.

I am beginning to believe life is too short and there are other more important battles to fight.

I have been nagging them to post points for a couple of holiday purchases. I am on my last leg with them. Done! Moving on to other pastures.

Yep. I've had bad experiences with Columbia House "TV Greats" trial points posting. They also keep charging my credit card for the DVDs though I've tried to cancel! Not worth it!

When I attempted my first redemption with MyPoints I ran into my first problems with them: "account disabled". They didn't notify me or anything, but thanks to Flyertalk I found a phonenumber to call (since no reactions came on my emails). Eventually it turned out they needed to verify my personal data. Apparently that is their standard practice, which I can understand. I don't understand why they cannot contact me and ask for information, but instead just block the account.
Anyway, I provided the information they needed and the points eventually posted.

A month later I redeemed more points (earned in part through the nice Amtrak offer http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif) and these also didn't post. After more emails and phone calls they finally posted, including the points that already posted a month earlier (my first redemption), so these posted twice.

Result is that I have a negative balance with MyPoints, but an extra 1000 points in my Hilton account http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Recently, my experience is that most things post eventually and that email to them is totally ignored.

I just redeemed 3,750 pts for two Marriott certificates. It now takes 2 months for them to clear in their system.

On another redemption note, I just received this week Marriott certificates that showed as being released in the middle of February. Seems like it now takes one month to be able to use your pts (assuming that they even posted correctly in the first place), and then two months to get a certificate processed (assuming that they actually mail them when they say.

Doesn't look good to me.
