Reminder for e-rewards

As a reminder, use your 2001 balance by March 31 or you'll lose 75% of it.

I am currently at $42, of which $34 is my last year balance. If I cannot get to $50, I'll have to redeem for $25 at the end of the month and forgo $6.75.

doc Mar 5, 2002 9:42 am

Thanks, PG! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I'm currently actually on the redeem page and yet I just can't decide what to go for at the $100 level:

$100 Award Voucher for Hertz Car Rental

$100 Off Certificate from United Airlines

Two Free One-Day Lift Tickets valid at Vail, Beaver Creek®, Breckenridge and Keystone®

7,500 Hilton HHonors Points

---

Any advice for someone just over the $100 level? WHat looks tobe good or bad? Any experiences worth relating? Anyone? Thanks! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

thelostshark Mar 5, 2002 11:10 am

I received one e-reward email today and one yesterday. Doubt that pace will keep up, but if so, you may get to $50. Good luck. tls

johnndor Mar 5, 2002 12:30 pm

Guess I'm doing something wrong... with all of the interests checked, I will barely (hopefully) get to $25 by the deadline!

That said, I will probably go for the Hilton points.

There are two other rewards: Blockbuster and Delta, and while neither of them are at the $100 level, you could combine those awards with the other four.

The only one I've redeemed so far is Hertz. With Hertz you do not get a refund on any unused balance, and also you cannot combine the gift certificate with any other coupon, so the effective value of the gift certificate is somewhat reduced.

dave_261 Mar 5, 2002 2:43 pm

OK- I have no idea how I did it (although I signed up for e-rewards very early on), but as of today, when I made $, I have $197.25. This was seriously helped by 2, $50 e-rewards I received several months ago.
In my mind, most of the rewards are useless... yet I still continue to strive for more.
I have 26 days to get 3 more e-mails, so I can top off at $200 and redeem.
My thought is that since the Delta, United and Hertz rewards all have restrictions, and I rarely rent Blockbuster movies, I think I'll put the miles in my rarely used Hhonors account, which I'll ultimately transfer to Delta miles.

doc Mar 5, 2002 3:28 pm

Yes, the Delta, United and Hertz rewards all having restrictions and the 7,500 HHonors points being of seeming limited relative value, at least to me, has me somewhat paralyzed, I'm afraid!

My wife went for the Blockbuster Award previously, I believe, and she just gave it as a gift to another family member.

bigeyes1 Mar 5, 2002 5:03 pm

How did you all get so much in your account? I am at a measly $14.15. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I have made sure to answer all of the emails and even proceeded to click on the link to get more e-rewards. Ok. Fess up. What's the secret here? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

While I have never rec'd any 50$ e-mails, I have rec'd a 5$-one a couple of times, and, of course, a lot of 1$-ones.

I have responded to a lot of their offers as I find them valuable or needed-purchases anyways.

If I was running e-rewards, I would send more offers to those who respond positively to the value of offers which are available and to those who actually purchase more (i.e. follow through to the end with a transaction). Sooooo, if they think like me then you might possibly have an answer as to why some get more e-mails than others.

By the way, today I rec'd 3 offers. Nothing for a week and then 3 in row. Go figure.

I have no idea how I got so many. Like I said, I got 2, $50 e-mails, which took about 15 minutes each, but clearly worth it. But I've also been enrolled for at least a year, so it's added up nicely. However, like I said, I have all these $$$, and nothing to spend them on!

Thank you for the notice! I didn't know there was any expiration date. I have slowly been trying to make my way to $50.00, but will have to settle for less rather than lose 75%

Soonerman Mar 6, 2002 3:51 pm

Guaranteed way to get more e-mails from
e-rewards.

I recently decided that due to the lack of offers from e-rewards I'd received and less free time to spend on the web, I'd just delete the e-mails as they/if they ever did come in again. Slow internet connections thru earthlink added to the frustration but that's another story in itself. Once I started deleting the e-reward e-mails, they began to multiply like rabbits! Started getting them every week. Now I wish I'd responded to some of these over the past three months, maybe I'd have enough to redeem for a movie rental or two.

Mikey Mar 7, 2002 10:34 am

I have $93.95 -- I hope I get 8 more to push me over $100. I'm thinking that the Hertz cert would be a helpful thing for me right now, as the airlines have killed the car certs.

ne14snow Mar 7, 2002 2:32 pm

***Fingers Crossed*** for ten more bucks before the end of the month!! Im at $60

KathyWdrf Mar 10, 2002 5:04 pm

Thanks for pointing this out!

I only have $21.90 in e-rewards, much of that earned last year. Hoping to get another $3.10 by the end of March, I revised my profile. I'll be p*ssed off if I lose points....would probably cancel my membership, as I'm not sure e-rewards is really worth my time anyway!

Don't forget you can only redeem points from E-Rewards to a sponsor once a year - from the e-Rewards® Member Agreement
"Member’s redemption of e-Rewards Currency will be limited to one (1) gift per Sponsor in a given calendar year."

So just over $50.00 again, already redeem in February 02 for Hilton Points - if I understand correctly I can hold the points until March 31, 2003 without them expiring and redeem for Hilton Points then - everyone agree?

UserMark Mar 12, 2002 4:22 pm

$48.85 and sweating. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

johnndor Mar 13, 2002 8:47 am

Got to $25 this morning. Guess I'll go for Hilton.

gclink Mar 13, 2002 9:34 am

As I don't find the others useful, I go for the Hilton so I can eventually exchange it for AA.

As per the first post in this thread, not if any of the points were earned in 2001.

In the five days since I wrote that, I have received two more e-rewards e-mails and have gotten my balance up to $23.90! Just $1.10 more to go in the next two weeks!

Mary2e Mar 16, 2002 10:47 am

Kathy,

I've been crossing my fingers for a couple of weeks too. I'm now up to $45.95 after having received about 3 in the last 10 days.

I'm hoping for the 3000 Hilton award -

Mary

UserMark Mar 16, 2002 11:15 am

Woohoo! Passed $50 yesterday.

hauteboy Mar 16, 2002 12:18 pm

I just passed $50 yesterday too! (well, only $25 officially. I'd already cashed out $25 in hilton), so had to choose the blockbuster $25 cert for the second redemption.

I got another e-mail today; balance went to $25.90 and I immediately redeemed $25.00 for 1000 HHonors points. The points posted in my HHonors account instantly. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Kremmen Mar 27, 2002 12:26 am

I'm at $71. Not much chance of getting to $75 in the next few days, and I won't be online over Easter to redeem ever if I did!

doctajay Mar 27, 2002 3:13 am

I only have $16.35 - guess I get hosed by e-Rewards.

Wife and I both got to the magical $25 level this month and cashed out for our 2,000 total Hilton HHonors points.

Whew!

tph4 Mar 27, 2002 10:24 pm

I have 93.00 in my account. Anyone know how to get to $100 by friday morning?

Received this email re: my wife's e-rewards account. Thought it was pretty nice of them:

Thank you for your membership in e-Rewards(R). As a valued
member, we want to let you know how much we appreciate your
participation in the program.

As you may know from the e-Rewards Member Agreement, some
of the e-Rewards that you earned through December 31, 2001,
and did not redeem as of March 31, 2002, were subject to
expiration.

But because you have not yet had a chance to redeem a reward,
we invite you to take advantage of this special offer:

Simply update your e-Rewards profile, and the earnings that
were scheduled to expire on March 31, 2002, will remain
available for you to redeem until March 31, 2003. That’s
an extra year to save and spend your e-Rewards for one of
many valuable rewards.

Remember, with as few as $25 in e-Rewards, you can redeem
your earnings for your choice of:

Free rentals from BLOCKBUSTER(R)
Savings on Delta or United Airlines
Dollars off a Hertz(R) car rental
Hilton HHonors Points

Please don’t delay. Your e-Rewards will expire according
to the program rules, unless you respond to this special
offer by 11:59 p.m. on June 25, 2002.

Click the link below to update your profile and keep the
e-Rewards that are about to expire.

That is a first rate action taken by e-rewards. It is good to see something like this done for their customers.

I hope it makes financial sense for them.

I guess I agree that it is good for them to do this - but I really don't see why there should be an expiration at all - or at least not such a quick one. If the business model they are using makes sense, then it shouldn't be based on people losing their points. So far, none of mine have expired, but I should probably cash some in, just in case.

Brendan Jun 26, 2002 6:33 pm

When I got the e-mail, I had $23 or $24 & cents, so I updated. When I get to $25 (after 18 months! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif ), I intend to grab my 1000 HHonors points & unsubscribe. It just isn't worth it, & spam is still spam, even with those minimal points!
