Double Delta SkyMiles at Walmart, and My Points?
I just got an email from American Express saying that I can get double SkyMiles with any purchase at Walmart, would I get 2 miles plus 2 MyPoints if I purchase something from the MyPoints site?
If that is the case I am buying a few gift cards that I can use at Sam's Thanks |
Your purchase would be at Walmart.com. If Amex gives double miles for Walmart.com then you should get the double miles as well as the Mypoints.
I presume that Walmart gift certificate purchases will earn mypoints. The mypoints web site states: For certain merchants, specific purchases may not be rewarded as well. These currently include: JCPenney: Does not reward JCPenney gift certificate purchases |

I've made three purchase of gift certificates over the past year and received credit for all of them, although I have had to chase them down each time. I don't know if that's usual for walmart.com purchases or if that is unique to gift certificate purchases from walmart.com. Other purchases from mypoints usually post promptly. |
I have had the exact same experience as Tudorcity. In fact I am getting ready to start an email series with mypoints about the $1200 I spent 6 weeks ago on Walmart gift certs. What a hassle! At least when I made that purchase there was a bonus and it was 4 mypoints to a dollar.

For those of us who need pictures drawn to understand things, let me know if I've got this straight:
I can use my Delta Skymiles Amex on walmart.com to buy a Sam's Club gift certificate, and get double miles? (I.e., if I get a $100 cert, I'll get 200 miles)?? When does this promotion expire, and where can I see more info on it? |
Here is the information that I received on the Delta email, I couldn't find anything on their website.

I wish the starwoods card would have this promo, but they never do. A wal-mart gift card can be used at Sam's Club, especially important in places where Sam's club only takes Discover Cards.

don't know if this is relavent, but I got a flyer today that Amex cashback card gets double bonus for the month of May. does this mean I can now get 3% back instead of usual 1.5%? if so, this is a much better deal than Delta Amex deal.
|
The cashback bonus is better depending on how you value your miles, is you value miles at $0.02 per mile, with double miles you get $0.04, better that 3%. But of course miles don't receive any interest, and if you read other threads, miles seem to be losing their value.
Just make sure that if you buy your Walmart gift cards to use at Sams, do it from MyPoints. |

What's Sam's (or WalMart's) policy if your purchases are less that the card value? Does it function like a debit card until completely used, or do you get cash back?

I've never received any cash back - even when I have had small balances on it. But, then again, I've never asked either. I just use them up too fast. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif |
Can anyone please forward the email that they received from American Express about this offer, as nobody at AX has any clue about this PROMO, Thank YOU [email protected]
