Milesbar is a waste of time
My account had over 50,000 miles in it on 9/2. I went back to check on it today and found only 17,000 miles. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THEY HAVE DONE THIS TO ME. The first time, I did not have proof of their adjustment and gave up trying to resolve it with these jokers. This time, I had printed a copy of my online statement back on 9/2. So far, I haven't received a reply from Milesbar but considering I have proof of my miles this time, I expect them to be returned to my account. If not, I'm yanking them of Mileage Workshop and filing a fraud complaint. I am pissed off!

You definitely have to keep us informed. I am a die hard user of your site and value you opinion, and while I sure don't have many miles with milesbar, I don't want to keep going if they're not going to honor them or take them away.

MileageAddict,
Milesbar has been talked about before (nothing good yet that I have seen). I got tired of problems, broken promises, etc. and asked to be canceled and was given a refund for all payments to them. I would welcome a working program like milesbar and would probably go back if it really worked. Has ANYONE had any good experiences with them? Or more important, gotten miles (or ticket if that is what they are giving away now) from them??? George.... |
There have been several "investigations" into Milesbar and it has been discussed quite a bit on flyertalk. From all indications, it is a scam. There has not been one single report of anyone obtaining free travel from this company. When the site was first introduced, Milesbar was using logos of various airlines on their homepage. Members of flyertalk contacted each airline whose logo was displayed and not one airline (from the Corporate Office to frequent flier department) knew anything about any agreement with milesbar. One airline, Northwest, initiated an investigation into Milesbar and shortly after that Milesbar dropped all airline logos from their site.
Investigations by flyertalk members also disclosed who the parties were that are behind the site. Because of the 09/11/01 event and "profiling" ethics I will not state here the nationality of those behind the site. However, this information is readily available by searching previous topics under ("spam") in flyertalk. |
Complete discussion on milesbar including the reason the thread was closed by flyertalk can be found:

And one final post (forgive me).
I went to the milesbar site tonight for the first time in a long time and discovered that they appear to be acting as a "referral" site for donations to the Amerian Red Cross and asking for on-line donations. Based upon the past history of this company/site I would be VERY cautious of giving any credit card information through the milesbar site. If you wish to donate to the American Red Cross (to help those in New York or for other reasons) go to the official American Red Cross site. (just a suggestion) |

MileageAddict I am very sorry to hear that MilesBar has jerked you around in this manner again. It is likely that you would have been the first person to actually accumulate enough points to merit a redemption - which would reveal them to be the scam site that they are. It seems they have chosen a different, yet equally shameful method to rip you off. Thank you for removing their link from your site. Your excellent web site suffered from the inclusion of the link to these crooks. |
I had not removed their link from Mileage Workshop until this evening. I have given them a few days to respond to my "calling them on the carpet". Since they have chosen to ignore me, I don't feel it is in anyone's interest to promote them at Mileage Workshop. They are the weakest link...good bye!
On a positive note, I have experienced an extremely high level of customer care from a wonderful woman named Diane at Milesource. I was concerned that I had not received a gift certificate I requested a long time ago. She spent a considerable amount of time on the phone with me and working out the problem with GiftCertificates.com It turned out that the gift certificate went to an incorrect email address (not my fault). She responded to her emails within hours and was very friendly on the phone as well. ------------------ Addicted to airline miles? Check out: Mileage Workshop |
Just wanted to let everyone know that I still have not received a reply from Milesbar. I am convinced that this company has no intention of paying out rewards. PLEASE DO NOT PAY FOR THIS SERVICE!

I'm here after a long summer in the wilds of Montana. I have no local access in Glacier during the summer, but on my return to Florida in Sept I also had missing miles. I requested a refund for the full amount that I had been charged, and over a 2 month period I was refunded every cent I had paid. Yes, I was thrilled at the start with the program, but it did not live up to expectations. I don't appreciate the posts I read from certain members of FT concerning me. I did not work for Milesbar as some posters would lead you to believe. I am just out for miles as the rest of you are. Now if you are interested in some magazines, Hickory Farms, or Gift Certificates..... Most of us at the Radisson Board are waiting for our miles... Of course now you will accuse me of working for Goldpoints........
Cheers..... |
