Thank you so much for posting that link. I never would have thought to look there, and I have plenty of spare points.

My wife and I just have donated all our available points to the Red Cross (1400 between us).

We, like most in Australia, the US and around the world are deeply shocked and saddened by the events of this week.

But we can all make a real difference by donating our spare mypoints to the Red Cross.

For a change lets have a charity conga with a set target. In light of the events of this week why don't we publish our donations in this thread and add them on to a running total. We can aim to donate one million points within the next week or so? I don't know the value of points but I think that 1 million points could do a lot of good. A thousand or so mypoints/flyertalkers should be sufficient to achieve the target. It won't cost you any $$$ but it will make a difference and give you a warm feeling inside.

Even if you have already donated in the last day or so, add your donation to the total below. A conga-ing we will go.

next person please.

1400 donated by us: running total 1400 points

Link is in first post on this thread.

cheers peter

Sorry that I only had 400 to give.
Great idea!

running total: 1800

Don't apologise ANZ5708

Your donation is as important and welcome as one 100 times that amount. It matters not whether one gives 200 or 2,000,000 points. The idea is that everyone makes a contribution as best they can or feel they are able. This is not about who can give the most but an opportunity to show that we care publicly and do some good in the process.

It would be great if we could achieve the target and it got some publicity in the papers. I think the news would make everyone feel a lot better.

Running total to date 1,800.

cheers Peter

I only had 174 and it says the minimum is 200 (: I had just cashed some out last week.

Will try to accumulate some during the week and get the amount higher and then make the donation.

If you don't have Mypoints to donate, here are some other methods:

Note that I gave all the MyPoints I had (1000) in addition to cash donations to the national and my local Red Cross chapter (I know our local Red Cross chapter was assisting stranded passengers her in CLT). This was something that didn't really cost me anything ...

Total: 4,400

I'd encourage all airlines, hotels, AMEX, Diners Club, and all other loyalty programs to make this option available ...

Which makes me think, do any of the airline programs have the Red Cross as one of their charities already?

Here in Sweden we are also shocked of the incident in the US on tuesday. I feel kind of helpless from here. I cant assist on hospital and I cant donate blood.

I have 4324Mypoints and I would be happy to donate them all to the American Red Cross. The problem though is that I live in Sweden and the require an US adress to make the donation. Can I just make one up or?

I cash in regularly so have very few MyPoints but I was able to donate 400 from my husband's account.

Delta miles can also be donated viaSkyWish to the Red Cross. They had it earlier today on a Web page about what people can do to help. The page seems to have disappeared since that posted new operations restart information. You should be able to get donate by calling the Skymiles automated line at 1-800-325-3999
