Points/Miles For E Trade, Etc.?

Are there any deals right now for E-Trade or other banks (besides Capital One or Schwab) to get miles?

I tried Clickrewards and E-Trade is no longer a partner there.

Ultimate goal is to make a safe investment such as a CD.

Yes, they give miles. I would be happy to refer you if you send me an email. I get 5000 miles for the referral. They give miles with United, Northwest, Delta, TWA and points with Hilton and Marriott. The number of miles/points depends on the amount you deposit.

I just got 50K points with Marriott from Etrade. It took about 3 months for the points to deposit, but just in time for me to redeem a 713 award (effectively 50K marriott points for me were worth 30K airline miles plus a quarter of a 7 night hotel cert).

AVOID E*TRADE!!!!

I can't stress that enough. I know it looks tempting... you see the miles beging offered, but the problem so many of us run into is they never credit the miles. Yes, you will find some people who received them, but it's hit and miss.

I also know it's in some folks self-interest to promote E*Trade (since they get referral miles), but if you do a simple search on the web (type in something like "ETRADE SUCKS!" and you'd be surprised how many negative postings this company has.

It is also rated as one of the worst online brokers around.

The way I look at it is "if you can't trust them to keep their word (and honor their own promotions) why would you trust them with your money?

Besides, the real purpose of opening a brokerage account is to be able to make trades... and my personal experience (and that of others I've spoken with) is very negative... slow trades. When there is a big swing in the market you not only can't log into their computer system, you also can't get through on the phone in under 30 minutes.

I can honest say E*Trade is one of the worst companies it's ever been my misfortune to have dealt with.

I believe Ameritrade is presently offering 2,500 miles for a new account... their customer service is top-notch and they honor their word.

Again, I can't stress it enough, save yourself a lot of aggrivation and

AVOID E*TRADE!!!

I was very close to signing up for E-Trade (thanks PG).

However after filling out the online application, I had a few questions for them. I called cust. svc. and was very disappointed with the handling of the call.

I will not be mailing in the check now.

Thanks PG for your referral, but no thanks E-Trade, you will not get my $$$$$.

That's what I love about this Forum, people look out for each other so not everyone has to go through the &$*%# they put me (and many, many, many others) through.

Ameritrade has a better reputation, and much better customer service. I believe they are presently giving 2,500 miles for new accounts. I know they ranked near the top of the list on the latest comparison of on-line brokers.

Good luck!! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Stuart, Mr. P, and Ameritrade got my business as of last Thursday. I'll let you all know how they do and when my 2,500 UA miles post.
