Dash.com
Has anyone ever used this service? I currently have a fair amount of money that I have earned through them, but I cannot get in touch with any sort of customer service, be it through phone or email. They do not respond to email and do not answer the phone. It is enough money that I would consider suing over it. Any information that any one has would be greatly appreciated.

Awhile back I called and left a message on their CEO's voice mail. His name is Dan Kaufman and is at extension 112 through DASH's main switchboard. After a week or so, I got my miles. Finally.

Dash is very slow in moving your purchases from pending to available, i think it goes something like this, miles/$ become available 75 days after the end of the month in which you made your purchase. Then, once they become available, they post miles on the next monthly posting cycle (may vary by user, but mine is around the 12th of each month), if you are in the cash program, then you have to request a check once funds are available, and again it is then processed on the next monthly cycle (not necessarily a month end date... i dont know).
They do respond to some emails, but if you are jsut asking when will this pending thing move to available, I think they ignore you unless it is beyond the time frame I mentioned above, if all that time hasnt past, they wont bother answering you... of course, you wouldnt have written if they made it clear how long it took to become available, and I have never found this info on their site. probably because you might not have used them if you knew how long... Ebates is 45 days after each calendar end, so you could wait about the same time with them too... Dash has responded to my emails when i asked about purchases not appearing on my account at all and other such problems. My early dec purchases became available in mid march, so looking forward to the miles in another 10 days or so. Hope you guys get what you are supposed to. |
Has anyone had more recent experience with
Dash.com; I haven't received my sign up points after 3 months or so. Some of the posts on this thread are disconcerting: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum...L/000353.htmld |

I have had the DashBar installed for about 6-8 months. I haven't had any trouble with it except at the beginning, when it took about two months for the 500+500 miles to post to my MP account.
Since that time, I figure the lag at about 10 days from receipt of ordered items until posting to my MP account. |
Another web board I look at reports people in the cash program (as opposed to the UA miles program) are still waiting on April checks (not april orders-those wouldnt have cleared yet, but actual checks that were to be cut and mailed in april).
If anyone has had April or May miles post(or if you got a check from the cash program )(miles or check dated in April or May) please post Lets hope Dash is still doing ok. |
I'm waiting for a May check, I believe... There's just no way to track any of it on Dash website, argh.

Looks like Dash is another dotcom failure...

This company is a fraud and criminal.United should be ashamed to do business with and promote this partner. Not one response in 6 months has been replied to after numerous emails.Neither has repeated phone calls been returned(nobody answers the phone just a voice mail recording) with regard to missing transactions and postings.

I never had a problem with Dash ... got my 500 UA miles for sign-up, then a 500 mile bonus with my first purchase (and some miles for the purchase too of course) ... after which I uninstalled the software because it had a bad tendency of making IE crash unfortunately.
According to f**ckedcompany.com they are not accepting *new* members ... maybe they figure if they stop giving away sign-up bonuses and just keep existing customers they can make it ... |
For months I have been trying to get them post my miles to United. I went and printed my account statement today, and will send it to United for further action. The statement lists the miles, but only my first name though.

Dash's farewell screen is gone today so I'm not sure what's going on there. However, there is one thing that I discovered from another board that is quite disturbing. I've removed the dashbar because of it.
Go to the Dash site at http://www.dash.com/dash/verifypassw...edataintro.asp . You'll need to enter your password, then click on login. Read through the private data information then go to the bottom of the page where it says "To view and edit your online navigation history, click here" and click on the link. I found that the Dash site had a history of every site I've visited since I started using Dash a couple of years ago! I spent the next hour deleting the information from their site. [This message has been edited by TravelLover (edited 06-08-2001).] |
I also deleted the "trace" that they had on me and removed the DASH software. Very insidious stuff.

weird. very weird. did they find a buyer like mypoints? or just got inundated by emails and decided to leave the site up despite going down?
First they were featured on ****edcompany.com as not accepting new customers. That page then disappeared. Then they had some farewell page, which again, before I could see it, disappeared... |
I'm just guessing here but I heard that last week they laid off about half of their staff. The greatest hacking danger to websites is always internal; I would guess that someone who had been let go decided to make a small, unauthorized change to their website.

hi there, somebody said they called dash.com. where is the phone number? i can't find it. I called united airlines and they didn't have it either.
you gave the name of the ceo and his ext but not the number. thanks |

The more I think about it the more I'm concerned about Dash having so mucn information about our web activity. They are tracking and recording every web site that someone with the Dashbar visits, whether or not the dashbar is visible. Their web site talks about privacy, yet they are apparently laying off people and apparently were recently hacked (probably from inside). How long before a disgruntled employee decides to make some money selling detailed information about our web activity?
I encourage everyone with the dash bar to consider removing or at least viewing and editing the information on their website. You'll be really surprised what's out there! |
I couldn't find a number for their New York City office, but the number in Maynard, MA seems to be working. Well, at least you get in to their voice mail system, where you can navigate a company directory. The number in Maynard is (978)897-0094.

thanks!

Dash: a tremendous piece of poor software that tracks those sites you may NOT do business with. Never again.

Just a note: Either the Dashbar software is so poorly written (the benign interpretation) or the Dashbar sofware folks are so underhanded that (on Win98 anyway) even when you uninstall the program using Control Panel's Add/Remove Program, the dll's that do the tracking are still there, doing their tracking thing. I had to edit the registry to get the thing really uninstalled. For details, as noted in one of the upstream notes here, see

From United.com:
Effective June 21, 2001, Mileage PlusŪ miles will be no longer be offered by dash.com. If you have made any purchases in May or June 2001, please allow 6-8 weeks for the miles to be posted to your account. If you believe you are missing miles for a past purchase through dash.com, you may submit a request for missing mileage credit. We regret any inconvenience this may cause. Look for other new partners soon. ------------------ Who is John Galt? ------------------ |
Dash is gone for good. But apparently they will attempt to give people what they are owed. I doubt it will ever happen.
|
I called UA customer service trying to get my
500 miles for the Dash.com sign up. I was told that with a written request the miles should be posted. We'll see what happens. |
I'm glad I printed out my account statement a few hours ago. I just revisited the site and now my account says there are no purchases pending and does not list any available or pending miles!
|
I printed my statement yesterday after reading the posts here. Now the statement is gone. My girlfriend didn't get to hers until today and hers is gone too so no information to submit. We know the number of miles due and the vendors, but it sounds like DASH will not honor requests without the account printout. This is a real snow job!

Unfortunately, when you click on your link for www.f--kedcompany.com, it says that they have recently registered their domain at register.com.
Does this mean they are gone too? |

it's odd...a whole bunch of dot-cons in Maynard have gone under. swapit, dash, and one other one whose name escapes me.
sort of odd, as maynard is a little teeny town that went on the rocks when DEC started dying out, and now the dot-cons are dying out. it's sad for the people with no work and sad for the affected businesses in town, but i don't cry for companies like Dash or SwapIt, which have gone down in particularly nasty blazes of "glory." try www.luckedcompany.com too. you can post that on here. heh. follow the right link and you'll get to what we're talking about. i scored serious points on swapit and dash. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |
