What points are good?
I'm a member of a few alternate point clubs ie. Mypoints etc.. Just wondering what point clubs do you think are the best as far as promotioin/free points that can actually add up to something worthwhile?

Welcome to FlyerTalk, dominick.
I'm registered in only ClickRewards and MyPoints. I like ClickRewards better, but their shopping partners leave a lot to be desired. MyPoints offers point-earning opportunities without buying anything, although you don't get much unless you shop with them. I transfer all my MyPoints to Hilton...my ClickRewards points to go whatever airline program I need miles in. [This message has been edited by Nanook (edited 03-03-2001).] |
Looks like Clickrewards only gives you points for purchasing (true?)
I use MyPoints since you can earn them for visiting sites or trying something out without cost. Originally posted by Nanook: Welcome to FlyerTalk, dominick. True, dr. You have to buy something on ClickRewards. If I'm going to buy something anyway, I always check there first. The good thing about them is you can transfer 1 to 1 Points to Miles. Once in a great while, they offer 1 point for 2 miles transfers (last year it was to BA and a couple of years before that it was AA). CR also has many different ways to give to charity and earn lots of points. MP only has one charity listed.
With MyPoints you can earn points for not purchasing anything. The only place I transfer my points from MyPoints is to my Hilton account. I don't have accounts with any of their other travel partners. [This message has been edited by Nanook (edited 03-05-2001).] |
It depends a lot on what you do online, where (if at all) you shop online and what rewards you want.
Milespree and Giantrewards seem to have about the highest payouts on shopping, but Milespree has no small rewards. MyPoints used to have about the most freebies per month, but don't pay nearly as much back on shopping. Many sites have ways to earn points from clicking on ads, etc, but some of them (eg. Blink) are worth very little each. If you had unlimited time to waste, it might be worth it! One of the best value sites is Etour. You get 80 Etour points per day from visiting just 4 sites, and I have actually found some really useful sites there, not just the usual crud that everyone else has. |
Since the dotcom crash and burn of 2000 the sites are pretty useless for racking up free points. After 40,000 Mypoints in 13 months I have struggled to get the last 1000 points and it has taken nearly 10 weeks. Pretty useless for air mileage accumulation.
Clickrewards has been pretty hard to get miles lately. The good shopping bonuses are few and far between. All in all it is still possible to pull in a few thousand free air miles a month through clicking and most of those tips are here on FT. Last year it was pretty easy to rack up 5000 ff miles a week. I think we will look back on 2000 in years to come as the year of the "free lunch" (at least on the airplane flights). |
I am inerested in any other sites that people can recommend.
I had been flying so much in 2000 that I didn't feel the need to seek the S.P.A.M. offers; now that my travel has reduced, the S.P.A.M. wells are going dry! I have been pursuing MyPonts and Trocamania lately (Greenpoints, too, before they lost DL). Other suggestions, particularly of the points-for-clicking variety?
