MyPoints - CyberRebate.com
MyPoints has a link to the CyberRebate.com site. Anyone out there have any experiences (positive or negative) with CyberRebate.com? Legitimacy? Speed of service? Problem resolution? Any input greatly appreciated.

Fine but slow is the seemingly consistent word on them, but I have not used them personally! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I have heard cyberrebate stuff is way overpriced, so you are taking a real gamble hoping they'll come through with the rebate, considering all the dot coms blowing up these days.

I have used them but have not as yet gotten my rebate. It takes 14 weeks. They may have 1000 items -free with rebate.Shipping is free as well.Wonder- how do they make money ? They charge much higher than normal and use your money for 14 weeks. The item then is not free but it only costs you the loss of interest on the money.Provided you had banked the money and not spent it.If I get the rebate it was a great deal for me as I actually got something I was going to buy anyway. I paid $59.95 and could have got same for $29.95 in the store.

I have used them two times. The first time the rebate checks all arrived on the same day, approximately 12 weeks after we sent in the UPC codes.
The second time, the checks trickled in, but all within two weeks, starting about 12 weeks after our order. The quality of the products is first rate. We ordered products the second time in the amount of $1100 through greenpoints for a silent auction we were having for a fundraiser. Every item was snapped up. So, for my $1100 I got 22,000 greenpoints which translated into almost 4500 Delta miles, didn't cost us a thing except some postage. The way they make money, from what my brother told me, is through banking ours for interest. Well, makes sense to me. But, the last time I looked the prices were WAY too high, even knowing I would get my money back . . . . . . eventually. |
I did not find the quality first rate on anything I bought. Items that were 29.00 could probably be had for less than 5.00 elsewhere. I did get my rebates, but it took every bit of four months to get. I have not placed an order since.

Agree with other posts ... purchased there twice. The products have been first rate; speed of delivery was good (1 week for ground orders); time to receive rebate is long (12 & 13 weeks).
It is also a little tricky to figure out how which forms to complete for rebates and how. Keep in mind that you must complete a separate form for each item, and you may need to include the product wrapper or UPC symbol. ------------------ He who dies with the most miles ... is dead. |
I have had great luck with Cyberrebates, we were able to buy most of our Christmas presents, a bunch of toys for our girls (2 year old girls), kitchen appliances, blank cdrs, great roller suitcase and a bunch of other really good stuff. It takes a good amount of time to find things and do the paperwork, but to get this stuff for free it is worth it to us.
Everything that they sell it highly over priced, but you have to take into account that you are getting free shipping and you will get your money back, so when you are all done it is free. They tell you upfront that it will take 10-14 weeks after you submit your paperwork and they have been within that timeline for all of our rebates. One thing that you have to think about is the interest that you are going to pay while waiting for your rebate. I use ebates http://www.ebates.com/[email protected] and you get a 5% rebate on all of your purchases at cyberrebate and as long as you have a credit card with a decent interest rate (or a promotional offer) you will come out making a profit. Since you don't earn miles on ebates, I usually put my charges on American Express then transfer it over to another card, so I get the Membership Rewards points. Sorry to sound like a commercial, but they have been a great find for our family. |
Cyberrebate no problem!
Got almost all my christmas gifts from them. I agree it takes them a while to get the rebates out, but it's worth the wait. Got almost all of mine. They have great customer service. One of my Rebates got lost in the mail. I contacted customer service. They allowed me to fax it in again a couple of weeks after the initial rebate postmark date. (I took a month vacation and wasn't able to fax it in any earlier) |
I just got my cyberrebate checks yesterday. I purchased 7 items for about $550 that I could have purchased at a store for about $200. So when you talk about product quality, you have to define what you mean. The products are not necessarily high or low quality, they just aren't the same quality you would get for the same price at a store. BUT, if you're willing to float cyberrebate.com your money interest-free for 3-4 months, you can get many products for practically free. The float is how they make money.
Of course, the downside is that you're trusting that they won't go out of business in between the time you pay them and the time you get your rebate check(s). It would be interesting to see just how well/poorly the company is doing. And of course let's not forget that you can pay for these items with a mileage credit card, thus getting miles, MyPoints, and free (or reduced-price) products and the only thing you do is "loan" them your money for a few months. Not a bad deal... I will probably use them again. |
I have used CyberRebates on several occasions. I prefer to go through the ebates site http://www.ebates.com/[email protected] By going through ebates, you get 5% rebate. If you live in a state (such as New York) where sales tax is charged, it helps pay the sales tax. If not, you can actually make a little!
As many others have mentioned, the prices are high and it takes a while to get your rebate, but they do come. You must be sure that all the forms are completed exactly as instructed. I am sure that I will buy from them again--if I find an item that I need. Good luck and happy bargain shopping and point hunting! ------------------ [email protected] |
In reguards to thier profibility, I saw an interview on cnnfn with the founder of cyberrebates. The company is a private company and they are making money (at least according to him).

I don't think it's fair complain about the quality of the merchandise, they are very good about giving you the make, model number, etc. There shouldn't be any surprizes as you are getting exactly what is described.
Their prices up front are a bit high for some items, but in 12 or 14 weeks you will get some of that back. It's not the cost of the item when you buy it, you have to subtract out the rebate to see if you are getting a good deal or not. As long as they stay in business (and I'm sure you can do the credit card dispute thing, or use your credit card insurance if you have it). Yes the rebates do come, they nave never not sent me one, and yes, they can take a very long time. One advantage of them since you pay so much up front, is that if using a credit card that gets you miles, you will get say 90 miles for what you would only get 45 for in a store, then three months later they give you back money too, so I think it's a great deal. |
As others, I tried Cyberrebates with a test order before I went for the whole tamale.
On March 2nd, I made a $55 purchase. My rebate check was finally mailed on June 23rd. That was quite a while, but I did receive it, so I went for it, purchasing a variety of Christmas presents. On June 29th I ordered $885 worth of gifts. They arrived shortly, but the rebate checks weren't mailed until November 27th, and received several days later. That was the good news. Re: their prices, they're inflated, and still inflating. One of the items I ordered was a wooden dinosar puzzle that is about 3' high and 4' long, from BC Bones. I found it on the net for $49. Cyberrebates' price was $89.99 (but it was going to end up free). Just checked their current price, still with a 100% rebate, and it is now listed at $186.99!! My concern is that they've been living on the float, but it wasn't working, so they had to increase the float dramatically. I've decided that I don't want to take the risk again. If they fold, you can't contest the credit card charges, since they've (probably) shipped you the merchandise. What you're out is the (grossly inflated) 100% rebate. I hope that others will continue to post their experiences here, and good luck to all. |
As long as you get the money, the higher prices may be better. You can get 4 Delta/Alaska miles per dollar by going through Greenpoints plus the 1 dollar/mile on your credit card, so effectively 5 miles per dollar on a 100% rebated item.
