Do you remember WebBonusMiles.com?
 

WebBonusMiles.com was yet another one of these online schemes that allowed you to earn points towards airline mileage. About six months ago, they merged with Co-OpRewards.com with the promise that points earned with the former would carry over. Two months later, the points finally were converted and posted into the new program but without any means of redemption. All it would say when requesting redemption was "coming soon". Well, after a couple of months of unanswered emails, I decided to call them. Guess what? The phone line has been disconnected! Another one bites the dust.

Do you think there is a point of saturation with all of these point-earning websites? It seems like a lot of them are popping up, many of them look unprofessional and as I have lamented in the past, sometimes you really need to fight in order to get your rewards cashed in.

I think a number of these point- or mile-earning sites have not really been affiliated with the various airlines, etc., whose miles they have been offering, but have rather just been purchasing the miles commercially (as almost anyone can) as incentive award miles, and then trying to drive enough eyeballs (and hence advertising revenue) to their site to make the thing pay off. They give you their brand of "points, but haven't yet purchased the actual redemption miles they are going to need from the airline. When the advertising cash starts to run short, they have a lot of accrued points (liabilities) with no assets (cash) left to purchase the points to follow through on their promises.

Easy come, easy go.

That's why I like earning at the established sites like Clickrewards, even if it may not be the best deal around. AT least I expect them to stick around.

I have had alot of luck, and prompt delivery of rewards from FreeRide. They are pretty good.

And the service is improving at MyPoints too.

Competition is fierce and a huge factor, but fraud has sadly hit many companies VERY hard too! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif
