Landry's Select Club rewards card

http://www.landrysselect.com/

Landry's restaurants has started a rewards program that will remind you of McCormick and Schmick's program. You join this program by buying in at $25 one time and they then credit your card with $25 to spend on your next visit. You get a free dinner for your birthday (value $25 which expires on the 15th of the month following your birth month). One card per person, so spouses can each sign up for the birthday dinner on their own account.

Earn a point per dollar spent and redeem automatically to your card at each $250 spent for $25 credit or see rules about deferring earned credit. Points are good for 12 months.

Landry's restaurants are in 29 states and some of them are:
Salt Grass Steakhouse, The Oceanaire, Claim Jumper, Golden Nugget (Las Vegas), Vic and Anthony's, The Chart House, Rainforest Cafe, and others.

They have some other benefits like discounts at Lenovo computer company and a electric company promo, Houston Rockets discounted tix.

Hmmm.. Seems like a good offering for use at the Golden Nugget.

We joined Landry's Select back in August, even though we don't have access to any of there properties here in OH. We just make a point of going to the Salt Grass when we visit family in Austin, TX.

We got our $25 sign up bonus and my DH's $25 birthday bonus, took the family to a fabulous dinner on Christmas Eve and saved $50.

Well worth the time to sign up!

Thumbs up McCormick & Schmick's and Morton's The Steakhouse

Landry's purchased McCormick & Schmick's and Morton's The Steakhouse recently. Their website lists the restaurants but stated Landry's Select Club-coming soon. I called Landry's and was told my M & S receipt would suffice to get Select Club points.

Problem with Landry's Select

I have had serious problems just getting anyone to talk to at Landry's. I am owed over $500 in gift certificates due to the transition from McCormick & Schmick's Preferred program to Landry's Select. I've left messages, sent e-mails, etc., with no luck. The last time I actually spoke to someone was 11/30/12, when I was told that the certificates "we're in the mail".

Does anyone have suggestions as to further action I could take? I will not let this die.

I am NOT happy with the new program. Redemptions are only availabl;e in increments of $25 which means $250 spent. So If you spend $499 a year you will still only be able to redeem for a $25 G.C.
Also Landry's has VERY different staff training guidelines which is going to make "Waitrons"out of all staff members. I really like some staff members at the downtown LA locationwhere i dine about once a month-and what they have told me about this change does not bode well for the staff

That's not the impression I got from reading the rules... unless you're spending $499 at a time, with gaps of over a year. The FAQ says points are valid for 12 months from the time they're issued, so it doesn't appear to be on a calendar-year basis. If you're spending $>250/12 months, you should be just fine.

They've really been branching out the last several years, buying more restaurant brands and buying casinos in AC and Biloxi and rebranding them as Golden Nuggets. I got my membership card at a Bubba Gump Shrimp Company, which has to be about as "down-market" as they get, relative to brands like Morton's, Chart House, etc.

BUYER BEWARE: Landry's Select Club

New LSC user, just bought my card a few weeks ago, then with my birthday month got the $25 added, so I have $50 to redeem on my card. During a birthday visit to Chicago this past weekend, went onto the Landry's Select Club site to find restaurants near our hotel (about 4 came up -- selected Mastro's on Dearborn - North River area). Had a fantastic, fun meal (and expensive).

Upon payment, the server informed me Mastro's is not setup to honor the $50, nor to apply points for the visit (~$250.00 bill~). OKayyyy... We are new in the Landry's system...etc etc...very polite, I was fine with that, I get it. I'll just call Landry's on Monday and resolve.

Called LSC this AM. Spoke to a 'Richard' who is supposedly a supervisor, who explained that Mastro's is not 'in the club' (paraphrasing). I said it is not at all explicit on the site that Mastro's in not participating -- if they have exclusions as to certain restaurants, then those locations should explicitly state it when you pull them up on the map or click on their specific pages. I learned from Richard the only statement of exclusion of Mastro's is buried in an FAQ page. I asked why would anyone think one of the restaurants they are promoting is excluded?

I said fine, I'm not asking for the $50 to be applied, all I'm asking for is the points to be applied, since I am a new user and the website is not explicit, certainly someone can just add the points to my account. I would not have chosen to go to that restaurant had it been clear that I could not use the card there. I was told no one has the ability to do that.

--'Just so I'm clear: with all of the loyalty programs and technology with air, hotel, rental, etc, you're saying *no one* there at Landry's has the ability, nor the interest in at least adding the 240 points to my account as a measure of reconciling a mutual error: Landry's unclear, misleading website, and my lack (I guess) of delving into the FAQs/fine print to see that Mastro's is excluded (it's not even called an 'Exclusions' page!). Additionally, you can see that I just signed up, so I'm not trying to 'game' the system. I travel about 100 business days per year and frequent restaurants about 3-4 times per week. Are you absolutely *certain* that *no one* at Landry's will add the points to my card??"

"No one has the ability or can access your account add the points to your account, and will not since Mastro's is not included."

"OK, Richard. I understand this is not your rule, you are just administering, so I am not coming down on you. Please convey to your leadership that I will use the $50 on the card, and after that I will not visit another Landry's restaurant -- I will actually go out of my way to make sure of this. I will share this experience with everyone in my network. Additionally, any time I am with a group, and we are deciding where to go, I will proactively do what I can to ensure we do not visit a Landry's restaurant. I will not spend money at any Landry's establishment. Will you please convey that to your leadership? I know I would want to know this if it were my company."

"Yes I will."

"Thank you."

<yeah, right>...

Mastro's is nowhere to be found on the app nor on the Select Club website (no logos nothing), even doing a 50 mile proximity search.
It isn't even mentioned on the list as not participating. But on landrys.com (versus landryselectclub.com) it is the first on the list.

So hard to find fault with the OP for assuming the two lists would be identical. But they are not.

I have $100 in birthday credits in my Landry's Select Club account that expire in mid-July. Does anyone know if it's possible to purchase a gift card at a Landry's restaurant (likely McCormick&Schmicks or Mortons) using the birthday credit to effectively extended its validity?

1. A birthday comes once a year

2. A Landry's birthday reward ($25) expires on the 15th of the month following the month of your birthday.

So exactly how does one acquire $100 in birthday credits???

And on the other subject, since you can't roll over a birthday credit beyond the 15th day of the next month, I would think the likelihood that you could turn it into a gift card and use it at a future day is less than zero...
