Free Amazon Prime 3-month trial

Mods, I didn't see this posted but I think it's a great offer. If you don't think it fits within the topic of SPAM, please feel free to delete with my apologies.

Right now you can get a free 3 month trial of Amazon Prime (free 2-day shipping) with a book purchase. However, the actual purchase appears to be optional. Here's how:

Go to the page for Pride and Prejudice - http://amazon.com/Pride-Prejudice-Ev...tclassseats-20
Click the "add to cart with free two-day shipping" link on the right
Click "proceed to checkout"
Log in (if asked)
Click start free trial

At this point you will be back at the checkout page if you wish to complete the purchase. If not, it does not seem to affect the trial.

Anyone not familiar with Prime, be sure to cancel auto-renew if you do not want to keep prime, or they will auto charge you for another year at the end of your trial. To do so, go to "your account", then "manage prime membership" and choose "Do Not Upgrade".

I find Prime pretty useful while on the road, because I can get items overnighted to me for $4, or have stuff waiting when I get home for the week with the free two-day shipping.

thank you for posting this, my prime had just expired in December and I normally don't qualify for the free trials since I have been a member but this time it worked for me.

Any idea how long this offer will last? I am on the 1-month free trial, and I'm wondering if this will last long enough for me to get it when my month expires.

These usually come and go quickly, so no guess from me. I have a few days left on my old trial myself, so I am hoping it makes it the week. I would be surprised though.

How did you get 3 months? It only showed 1-month trial for me.

My free month trial just ended about a week ago, so I was surprised that they let me do another free trial. This time, for 3 months!

Thanks, OP!!!

I have heard some only see 1 month. I have no idea what they use to decide, but most people seem to be offered 3. Worst case, you could have another relative you live with sign up, and invite you to their trial. Last time I checked that method still worked. For 1 month it usually isn't worth it, but for 3 it might be.

I wonder whether www.bookdepository.com is a factor in Amazon being more generous with their Prime member. Granted bookdepository takes 6-10 business days so Amazon is still ahead of the game.
