Ryanair online check in question

I've just come across a minor issue with Ryanair's online check-in.

I have checked in for my flight, no problem. But my friend is Spanish, and her passport was issued by the Spanish embassy in London.

Ryanair ask for the 'Place of Issue' for the passport: do I choose UK or Spain?

I'm thinking Spain, but Ryanair will charge an extra £8 each way if I am wrong! And of course contacting them to ask is practically impossible.
The things you do for £0.02 flight. ;)

As far as I know any Spanish embassy is Spanish territory, whereever it is located. So I'd choose "Spain".

Thank you for this. I selected Spain, which seems to be obvious, but Ryanair works in mysterious ways! But it looks fine to me.

I'd personally have said the opposite, and put the country in which the issuing embassy was located.

As its usually only embassies who issue passports outside of a home country, the question would be pointless if all Spanish embassies were concidered as being in 'Spain'.

I would be surprised if it really mattered in this case though as I don't think Ryanair will notice anyhow, and I think it usually only becomes an issue when you are applying for visas to some countries.

I'm Danish, but my passport was issued in Australia. So everytime I inform someone on the place of issue, I put Australia - Which is what I think you are ment to do.

So if your passport was issued in the UK you say UK - as simple as that;)

i agree with that, if there's London/UK in your passport make sure you'll give them the right information!
