Ryanair: adding a baggage after reservation costs more?

Adding a baggage after reservation, costs more with Ryanair? I'm asking this because recently I've added a baggage several days after my flight reservation and it was more expensive than adding it during the reservation. Thanks

Well...you've answered your own question.

maybe I've not been clear enough :)
I mean: if i buy a checked baggage option, is there any difference if i buy it directly during the reservation of my tkt or after have booked the tkt (both online)?

in the first case, I'm buying it when I buy the tkt, adding the service at the same time.

in the second case, it should be through "manage my bookings", then adding the service and making a separate transaction.

Edit: got it;

"***Higher prices apply if purchased through Manage Booking".

What a headache that they are so picky , or tricky.

Not exactly, there is clearly a third party added transaction and admin cost of amending the booking after it has been made. Air Asia and EasyJet are the same. Its not a full service airline. They offer 'business fares' that include all the added extras and flexibility now.

Actually UIVMM easyJet is not the same - with them you can add hold luggage later online for the same price as it would have been when first booking the flight.

From this easyJet Hold Luggage page:

The quickest and cheapest way to add hold luggage or sports equipment to your booking is onine when you’re booking your flight, or via Manage Bookings once your flight is booked.
Also see this page for fees (scroll down).

You would either have to go through the process or do online chat with FR to find out. You can find their terms on checked bags, including the link to online chat here:

http://www.ryanair.com/en/terms-and-...heckedbaggage/

It does state that charges are higher if you do it online after making the initial booking. These charges are not included in their table of charges which you can find here https://www.ryanair.com/en/fees/ but one would assume it is no higher than the airport/call centre cost and probably somewhere between that and the cost of doing with initial booking.

I (well, our admin assistant) added a 15kg checked bag onto my STN-ATH booking through "Manage Booking" as she forgot to do it when booking. There was no difference in price.

I wonder whether the prices are based on demand, in the same way as the ordinary fares are set?

The baggage fee depends on the weight, the route and the season.

It will be somewhere between the advertised "purchased on Ryanair.com" price and the "Purchased at Airport or Call Centre from 5th January 2014"
